Description

The company runs a dietitian-led metabolic health clinic that matches patients with Registered Dietitians, physicians, medications, lab testing and AI agents, billed to insurance across all 50 states.

It was founded four years ago, has completed millions of appointments, has tripled year over year, and works with health plans covering 200M+ Americans and 250+ health systems.

In 2026 the company raised a $100M Series C, bringing total funding to $215M. Menlo Ventures led the round, with participation from Thrive Capital, Index Ventures, J.P. Morgan Growth Equity Partners, Maverick Ventures, Y Combinator, BoxGroup, Atomico, Daybreak and Operator Partners.

The core question for the team is whether nutrition care can improve health outcomes and lower healthcare costs at the same time, which matters for reaching millions more patients.

This is a new, first dedicated actuarial data science role. You will report to the Head of Data and work closely with the Commercial and Clinical teams and with Analytics Engineering.

The data team sits in NYC and works from the office 3+ days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Lead studies that measure how the company care affects medical and pharmacy spending, healthcare use and total cost of care, using claims data.
  • Design claims-based analyses with suitable study designs, matched comparison groups, risk adjustment and causal inference methods to isolate the company's incremental effect.
  • Build actuarial models that estimate savings, PMPM impact and ROI for specific health plan populations.
  • Write study reports and executive summaries for health plan partners, and help the Commercial team present findings, methods and limits, answering questions from actuaries and clinicians.
  • Find which patient groups, conditions and cost drivers offer the largest savings, and turn these into recommendations for the Commercial and Clinical teams.
  • Work with Analytics Engineering to create reusable datasets, standard methods and repeatable workflows for evaluating any payer population.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of healthcare actuarial or medical economics experience, from a health plan, actuarial or benefits consultancy, or digital health company, with deep work on healthcare costs and utilization.
  • Strong command of medical and pharmacy claims, eligibility data and coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, NDC), including PMPM, cost trends, claims completion and risk adjustment.
  • Progress toward or completion of ASA or FSA is a plus.
  • Experience designing or running claims-based evaluations of care programs, vendors or clinical interventions, ideally from the payer's side, and building a credible savings case.
  • Skill in observational study design, matched comparison groups, risk adjustment and handling selection bias and confounding.
  • Hands-on technical ability: clean, fast SQL and proficiency in Python or R. You can take an analysis from raw data to findings on your own.
  • Ability to explain complex actuarial work to technical and non-technical audiences, defend your methods, state limitations and answer hard questions from health plan actuaries.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and cross-functional work, taking ownership from problem definition to delivery, and building new capabilities from scratch.
  • Belief in food as medicine and a wish to improve care at scale.

Conditions

Based in NYC, working from the office 3+ days a week.

Equal opportunity employer; applicants are considered without regard to protected characteristics.
