Staff Architect - Data Platform (Remote)

Description

The company is a global data and technology firm serving markets such as financial services, healthcare, automotive, agribusiness and insurance, with about 25,200 staff across 32 countries.

You will join a small Data and AI Platform Architecture team that sets technology direction for analytics products, AI and ML enablement, and data infrastructure at enterprise scale.

The role sits in a global team that builds cross-border data products and the mechanisms behind them. You report to the Sr. Director of Platform Engineering. It is an individual contributor position.

Responsibilities

• Design the mechanisms that enable cross-border data products, including privacy-preserving techniques, derived signals that can move across borders, and shared semantics.
• Build cross-border entity resolution as the base layer for those products, and work with data science teams on matching methods and match quality.
• Lead the use of semantic and ontology standards across regions so regional data can be used across borders without being centralized.
• Build the layers that let AI agents consume the data, covering regional semantics and ontologies, governed discovery, and access paths that keep usage accurate and compliant.
• Drive technology adoption across engineering teams through reference implementations and reusable patterns they choose to adopt.
• Lead focused prototyping and R&D with product and engineering teams to test new data and AI capabilities.
• Mentor engineers across the organization on fundamentals, system design and product awareness.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, centred on data platforms, analytics infrastructure, or AI and ML systems.
• A bachelor's degree or higher in science, technology, engineering or a related field.
• Ability to reason from first principles about platform tradeoffs and explain at the mechanism level why a system behaves as it does.
• Hands-on work across the full data lifecycle, from ingestion and transformation to delivery for BI and ML use.
• Experience with data modelling, schema design and data quality, including building systems that enforce lineage, catalog metadata and governance policy at scale.
• Experience designing architectures that give governed, unified access to data across systems.
• Proven record of overseeing and evolving shared platform architectures, setting boundaries, managing tradeoffs and adapting designs over time.
• Experience with distributed computing and cloud-native infrastructure, ideally Amazon Web Services, including the cost and operational behaviour of data workloads.
• Comfort with infrastructure as code and running production workloads.
• Hands-on experience with graph databases, entity resolution or record linkage systems.

The base pay range is listed in the posting. Pay within that range depends on work location, job-related skills, experience and education.
