Sr. Systems (Database) Administrator

Description

The company needs a cleared Senior Systems (Database) Administrator for an immediate opening at Langley AFB.

The role supports a virtualized environment with several database technologies, as part of the Distributed Ground System (DGS) modernization, system operations and promotion.

The OA DCGS program runs most of its enterprise services and operating environments on Microsoft Active Directory, so experience with that technology is wanted.

You should be comfortable troubleshooting database issues on Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL, and willing to learn new technologies as client needs change.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases on version 2019 or newer, and help migrate from older SQL Server versions.
• Build and run automated jobs, such as server and job maintenance, data archiving and backups.
• Maintain and operate a virtualized data center running VMWare on Dell/EMC server and storage hardware.
• Install, support and maintain servers, tuning performance, system-wide software configuration and mass storage allocation.
• Protect the integrity, confidentiality and availability of information systems through patch management, antivirus installs and signature updates, and data archiving and restoration.
• Respond to and resolve service outages, technical queries and other system issues.
• Analyze and develop systems to keep them current with changing technology.
• Update and document configuration management, and troubleshoot reported problems.
• Log and resolve trouble tickets in Serena Business Manager.
• Give technical guidance to Tier 1 and Tier 2 staff.

Requirements

• Required: Active TS/SCI clearance.
• Required: At least 6 years of relevant experience as both a Windows System Administrator and a Database Administrator.
• Required: Security+ CE certification.
• Required: Experience with most of the following: Windows Server 2019+, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), PostgreSQL 16.X+, VMWare, T-SQL and PowerShell.
• Desired: A bachelor's degree.
• Desired: RedHat Linux experience.

Conditions

Full-time, regular position.

Requires an active TS/SCI clearance to start.

Up to 10% travel within the continental US.

The proposed salary range is $75,200-$158,100.

Final pay depends on factors such as location, Federal Government contract labor categories and wage rates, prior relevant experience, specific skills, education and certifications.
