Sr Software Engineer

Description

The company has operated for more than 25 years and runs a global two-sided network in about 200 markets, linking hundreds of millions of merchants and consumers.

It handles payments online and in person, offering its own proprietary payment solutions that merchants accept as well as connections to third-party payment networks.

Consumers can pay from a bank account, account balances, credit or debit cards, certain cryptocurrencies, stored value products and eligible card rewards. Merchants get end-to-end payment processing, settlement, instant access to funds, payouts, customer tools and risk management.

The role sits in a subsidiary of the company.

Responsibilities

• Deliver complete solutions across every phase of the software development lifecycle: design, implementation, testing, delivery and operations, working from definitions set by more senior roles.
• Advise your immediate manager on project-level issues.
• Guide junior engineers.
• Work with little day-to-day supervision, making technical decisions based on internal conventions and industry best practices.

Requirements

• Minimum: 3+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preferred: solid grasp of algorithms, data structures, object-oriented design, design patterns and multithreaded programming.
• Preferred: strong OOP skills, with the ability to turn requirements into scalable software designs.
• Preferred: experience with HTTP and REST APIs, and with designing and building web services or microservices in a commercial setting.
• Preferred: ability to design for reliability, availability, scalability and performance.
• Preferred: strong troubleshooting, debugging and analytical skills.
• Preferred: hands-on Java experience (core Java, J2EE, Spring framework) and building RESTful services.
• Preferred: follows coding and design best practices.
• Preferred: experience with SQL and NoSQL solutions, understanding the trade-offs between relational and free-form databases.
• Preferred: interest in large-scale distributed stream processing and real-time computation systems.
• Preferred: hands-on use of AI and GenAI tools to boost productivity in coding, testing, debugging and documentation.

Conditions

Base pay for San Jose, California: $143,500.00 to $212,850.00 per year. Actual pay depends on location, relevant experience and expertise.

No other locations are assigned to this requisition.

Hybrid for most employees: 3 days in the office for in-person collaboration, and 2 days at your choice of the office or your home workspace.
