Description

The company is growing into a multi-product business, and this role leads the engineering behind the core platform building blocks that make that possible.

Core Platform is the base the rest of the product is built on. You will manage a team that owns the identity platform, customer job processing and design systems. These let product teams ship quickly and safely at scale, and they shape the customer experience every day.

You will set direction, prioritize a complex set of projects, and shape technical strategy across the Foundation Pillar. You will also help shape how a distributed team works across about 8 hours of time zone spread, with async-first habits and psychological safety at its core. The role suits someone who enjoys leading strong engineers on hard distributed-systems problems.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit software engineers at every level, from junior to staff, and grow them so they keep doing excellent work and can move into engineering leadership.
  • Work with product, design, customer success, support, sales and other teams to set a clear vision, order roadmaps, and build a long-term strategy that adds value for customers and fits the wider organization.
  • Own your team's portfolio: its delivery, day-to-day operations and results, keeping critical systems fast, dependable and secure at scale.
  • Set architectural guardrails and steer major technical decisions without becoming a hands-on contributor.
  • Design the processes that help engineers work efficiently and collaborate well across the company.
  • Model the company's core values in your own work and hold your team to them.
  • Join the wider engineering leadership group and work with peer engineering managers on company-wide initiatives beyond your own team.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years managing software engineers, preferably at a remote-first B2B SaaS or startup company.
  • At least 8 years of full-time software development, preferably in product engineering or full stack roles.
  • A proven record of hiring and developing people, and of genuinely investing in engineers' career growth.
  • A customer-focused approach and a history of shipping high-quality, high-impact features across the full product lifecycle.
  • Real technical depth: you can work through complex architecture and guide senior engineers toward sound decisions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication, and a record of earning trust with cross-functional partners in a remote-first setting.
  • High ownership and a growth mindset. You are collaborative and humble, and you stay effective in fast-moving, ambiguous conditions.

Conditions

Take part in an on-call rotation that provides after-hours support, resolving critical issues quickly and keeping systems up.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental and vision coverage at 100% for full-time employees, with roughly 75% coverage for dependents.
  • Flexible vacation days plus quarterly mental health days.
  • Annual stipends for professional development and caregiving needs.
  • Annual work anniversary bonuses that grow with your tenure.
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan, available to US employees only.
  • The latest Apple hardware.
  • Active employee resource groups that celebrate shared identities and support the company's DEI goals.
