Description

Role ID: FEQ128R102.

The position is based in the Milan area, close enough to commute for a hybrid schedule.

Many apps on your phone run on systems built by customers in the Digital Native and scaleup accounts this role covers, and those customers rely on the company's platform to run their businesses.

The company is a data and AI platform provider used by more than 20,000 organizations, including 70% of the Fortune 500, with headquarters in San Francisco and more than 30 offices worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Set the technical direction for Digital Native and scaleup customers in Italy, leading architecture talks, growing platform use, and acting as a trusted adviser to customers' technical leads and architects.
  • Own the technical plan for core product customers, mainly in the Digital Native segment, from first discovery through production rollout and growing usage.
  • Lead complex architecture sessions and design scalable, production-ready systems covering data engineering, ML/AI, and real-time analytics.
  • Act as a trusted technical adviser to customer architects, engineering leads, and directors.
  • Win competitive technical deals by showing where the platform stands apart, using solutions you build yourself.
  • Build and declare an emerging technical specialization (archetype), becoming the go-to person on your team for that area.
  • Coordinate specialist colleagues (DSAs, SSAs) and partners to deliver complete solutions for hard customer problems.
  • Send structured feedback on customer needs and competitor gaps to help shape the product roadmap.
  • You are developing a specialization (archetype) and are recognized on your team for depth in one domain.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years in solutions architecture, data engineering, technical pre-sales, or a senior hands-on technical role.
  • Strong Python and SQL skills, shown through live coding, debugging, and building solutions on the spot.
  • Deep knowledge of distributed data systems: scalable pipelines, streaming, lakehouse patterns, and cloud-native data platforms.
  • Working knowledge of the company Platform, or a proven ability to get up to speed quickly, plus a developing specialization in one area such as real-time/streaming, ML/AI, data governance, or migrations.
  • A record of leading architecture discussions with senior technical stakeholders, including whiteboarding, design reviews, and trade-off analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with production deployments on AWS, Azure, or GCP, covering infrastructure, security, and governance.
  • A track record of growing platform adoption and consumption within customer accounts.
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex architectures in business terms to both technical and executive audiences.
  • Fluency in Italian and English.
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
  • The company certifications (Data Engineer, ML, Platform).
  • Experience with competing platforms such as Snowflake, AWS native services, or Azure Synapse, so you understand what you will be positioning against.
  • Background in a data or AI company or a cloud provider.
  • Industry domain expertise, for example in Financial Services, Healthcare, Retail, or Media.
  • Interview stages: recruiter screen, hiring manager screen, design and architecture interview, live coding assessment, build, demo and pitch presentation, then reference check.

Conditions

Italy pay range: €92.300 - €126.950 EUR, which is the expected salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles.

Actual pay depends on factors such as job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and work location.

The total package may also include eligibility for an annual performance bonus and equity.

Candidates are assessed regardless of protected characteristics, and if the role needs access to export-controlled technology or source code, the company decides whether to seek a U.S. government license and may decline to proceed on that basis alone.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive benefits and perks, with region-specific details available from the company.
