Software Quality Triage Specialist

Description

The company was founded in 2018 and is publicly traded on Nasdaq under KDK. It builds autonomous driving technology for machines that move.

Its vehicle-agnostic system pairs AI software with modular hardware and is used in long-haul trucking, industrial trucking, and defense.

In 2024 it began commercial driverless operations with no human driver on board, and it plans driverless long-haul service between Dallas and Houston by the end of 2026.

Partners include Bosch for scaled hardware production and AWS, and customers include Atlas Energy Solutions, IKEA, Bridgestone, Werner Enterprises, C.R. England, Roehl Transport, and General Dynamics Land Systems.

You will join the Software Quality team, which is growing fast, to triage the behavior of autonomous trucks.

Responsibilities

• Build a deep working knowledge of the driving system, more than nearly anyone else on the team.
• Review performance data from the autonomous trucks.
• Carry out thorough root cause analysis with high quality and little supervision.
• Sort failure modes into categories, file bugs, and follow each one until it is resolved.
• Write overall performance reports for the team.
• Work with operations and engineering to refine workflows and processes.
• Check 2D and 3D labels for quality so they improve training data and algorithms.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of triage and deep root cause work in robotics or autonomous vehicles.
• A bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a closely related technical field.
• The ability to go past simple bucketing of issues.
• Hands-on experience reading vehicle logs across perception, planning, localization, controls, and other system-level behavior.
• A solid grasp of AV sensors such as cameras, lidar, and radar, and how their performance affects perception and planning.
• Experience using simulation in triage to assess safety-related behavior.
• A track record of solving complex problems all the way to root cause.
• Sharp analytical thinking and critical reasoning.
• Quick to learn and apply new concepts, tools, and workflows.
• Curiosity and persistence to dig into unexpected behavior and find out why it happens.
• Clear, concise, and thorough technical writing alongside strong communication skills.
• Genuine interest in autonomous technology and in making driving safer and more efficient through triage and simulation.

Conditions

The California base salary range is $120,000 to $135,000 USD. It covers several internal levels and applies to the SF/Silicon Valley location.

Starting pay depends on work location, experience, relevant training, education, skill level, and performance in interviews.

Total compensation includes base pay, equity, bonus, and benefits.

The office is in Mountain View, CA.
