Software Engineer

Description

The company builds software across the full development lifecycle, covering deployment, automation, cloud infrastructure and production support.

The role supports cloud-native deployments and DevOps work, and suits someone who can build software, then deploy, automate, troubleshoot and support it in production.

Responsibilities

• You will develop, maintain and improve complex software systems based on documented requirements, such as processing-intensive analytics, new algorithm work, very large data sets, real-time systems and business management information systems.
• You will work alone or with a team.
• You will review and test software components against design requirements and record the results.
• You will resolve software problem reports.
• You will apply software development and design methods that suit the development environment.
• You will give specific input to the software side of system design, including hardware and software trade-offs, software reuse, using Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) or Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) products instead of building new, and turning system-level requirements into requirements for individual software components.

Requirements

• Required:
• You have experience designing, building, testing and deploying changes to existing software.
• You have experience strengthening infrastructure security protocols.
• You can spot manual processes that could be automated.
• You have experience maintaining and improving cloud infrastructure.
• You automate code integration, testing and deployment so features reach production securely and efficiently.
• You provision and manage environments with automation tools rather than configuring servers by hand.
• You set up logging, monitoring and alerting to catch bottlenecks early and resolve production issues.
• You manage containerized applications so they scale smoothly across platforms.
• You hold a TS/SCI clearance and a polygraph taken within the last 5 years.
• You have 14 years of experience as a software engineer on programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. 4 additional years of experience on projects with similar software processes may replace the degree.
• Desired:
• CI/CD tools: familiarity with continuous integration frameworks such as GitLab CI, Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
• Infrastructure tools: experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
• Container platforms: working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
• Cloud: proficiency with a major cloud provider such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.

Conditions

Salary depends on factors including geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and wage rates, relevant prior experience, specific skills, education and certifications.

The proposed salary range is $113,200 to $237,800.
