Software Engineer

Description

The company builds voice AI agents for enterprise clients, handling phone work such as customer support, order intake, and lead qualification. Well-known businesses including DoorDash, xAI, and Omaha Steaks use them.

Revenue is growing quickly, and the company is hiring a small number of founding software engineers to meet current customer demand and build systems for what comes next.

The company has raised $14M from investors including Y Combinator, First Harmonic, Massive Tech Ventures, Michael Seibel, Jared Friedman, Alexandr Wang, Matt Van Horn, Suhail Doshi, and Scott Wu.

The founders met while leading software teams at Y Combinator, where they built products for YC founders, including YC's co-founder matching site. Cat previously worked at Instagram and Facebook and holds degrees in math and computer science from MIT. Zach studied computer science and statistics at the University of Chicago and led software at PEAK6.

The team has more than 20 people and is growing fast.

The role is based in the San Francisco office. You will help build the core systems behind the voice agents and work across product to make them faster, more reliable, and more capable in live production settings.

Responsibilities

• Own large parts of the system and work with a high degree of autonomy.
• Ship customer-facing features.
• Improve latency and reliability.
• Build internal tools.
• Debug complex edge cases.
• Help scale the platform as customer demand grows.
• Work close to the product and to customers, building technology that directly affects revenue for businesses that use the platform.

Requirements

• 4+ years of relevant work experience.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a drive to tackle technical challenges.
• A customer-first approach, strong communication skills, and an interest in product design and prioritization.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
• A commitment to learning and keeping up with the latest AI developments.
• Previous experience with prompt engineering or AI and LLM-based platforms.
• Experience as an early-stage startup engineer or founder.
• Experience with TypeScript, React, Python, Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, and AWS.
• Interest in shaping the visual identity of a fast-growing AI company is welcome.
• Experience level: any, new graduates welcome.
