Description

The company builds TallyIQ, an internal finance application used by Finance, Accounting, and Revenue Operations for invoicing, adjustments, approvals, reconciliation, and financial reporting.

The application also has financial analytics and decision-support tools, with room to develop AI-powered predictive and prescriptive analytics.

The Financial Systems Engineering team works across user interfaces, APIs, backend services, and financial business logic, integrating with the company's proprietary advertising platform, NetSuite, Salesforce, and BigQuery.

You will report to the Senior Software Engineering Manager for Financial Systems Engineering and work closely with Finance, Revenue Operations, and Product.

You will help decide what gets built next. With your manager and Product, you will talk with Finance and Accounting stakeholders, including the CFO, to learn their problems, spot opportunities, and turn those needs into features. The roadmap will shift as the team learns where software helps most.

This is a hands-on role with room to grow. You will ship features and take on more ownership over time, with support from your team. Accounting or finance knowledge is strongly preferred, along with curiosity, good engineering judgment, and interest in the business behind the software.

The role is based at the New York City headquarters at 225 Broadway on a hybrid schedule, with 3 days per week in the NYC office as needed for collaboration, close cycles, and planning.

Responsibilities

  • Build features for invoice generation and previews, credits and approvals, configurable templates, reconciliation, and financial analysis.
  • Develop APIs and backend services in Go and Python on Google Cloud, and contribute to the React and TypeScript frontend where useful.
  • Meet Finance and Accounting stakeholders, including finance leadership, to learn how they work, find unmet needs, and assess possible solutions.
  • Help shape and prioritize the roadmap with your manager and Product, then take defined features from discovery through build, release, and ongoing improvement.
  • Contribute to financial analytics and decision-support work, including exploring AI-powered predictive and prescriptive analytics and workflow automation for finance.
  • Build and maintain integrations with the proprietary platform, NetSuite, Salesforce, and BigQuery.
  • Build permissions, validation, tests, error handling, and audit trails that keep financial data accurate and leave room for appropriate human review.
  • Use feedback from people who use the application to improve its usability, reliability, and business value.

Requirements

  • Early-career engineer with 0 to 4 years of professional experience. Recent graduates with substantial project, internship, or hands-on building experience are welcome.
  • Comfortable programming in Go, Python, or a similar backend language, and working with SQL.
  • Able to show your engineering skills through paid work, internships, open-source contributions, or substantial projects.
  • Accounting or finance knowledge is strongly preferred, whether from coursework, a previous role, or practical work with financial processes and analysis.
  • Interested in how people work, quick to ask good questions, and able to connect engineering choices to business needs.
  • Careful about correctness: you check assumptions, test edge cases, and dig into unexpected results.
  • Proactive and collaborative, and comfortable working through ambiguity with support from teammates.
  • Ready to own well-defined work and grow into broader responsibility.
  • Hold a degree in Computer Science or a related field, or have equivalent hands-on engineering experience.
  • NYC-based or willing to relocate.
  • Experience building web applications with React and TypeScript.
  • Experience with financial analytics, data modeling, or data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with NetSuite, Salesforce, or ERP integrations.
  • Experience with Google Cloud, including Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, or BigQuery.
  • Experience building with LLMs, tool calling, predictive modeling, or AI-assisted workflows.
  • Success in this role means that within your first year you will:
  • Ship production features that improve how Finance, Accounting, and Revenue Operations get their work done.
  • Identify and deliver new capabilities based on direct conversations with business stakeholders.
  • Take growing ownership of a defined application feature or financial workflow, from understanding the problem through release and support.
  • Contribute to the application's financial analytics and AI-assisted capabilities.
  • Build trust with business partners by understanding their needs, investigating discrepancies, and following through on issues.
  • The approximate compensation range is $120,000-130,000. The final offer will reflect the total compensation package and benefits, based on experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and internal equity on the team.
  • Applications are welcome from all backgrounds. The company does not use third-party recruiting agencies for this search.
