Description

The technology division is modernizing the company's applications as new business models and industry shifts change what customers expect, with the goal of continually improving the customer experience.

As an intern, you will work on real-world projects in application modernization, user experience and process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Help convert and modernize existing SOAP and REST APIs while learning application architecture, integrations and current development practices.
  • Find and build improvements to current user interfaces that make them easier to use and more functional.
  • Design, build and test new features inside existing user interfaces based on business and user needs.
  • Review existing application components and help update them for better maintainability, functionality and user experience.
  • Help create a new tool for data comparison or mapping, covering requirements, building the functionality and testing it.
  • Learn how medical products are configured and suggest ways to streamline the tools, workflows or processes that support it.
  • Project examples may change.

Requirements

  • You are a junior or senior working toward a bachelor's degree, or a current master's student, in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Data Science or a related technical field.
  • You have basic knowledge of TypeScript, REST APIs, AWS-native services, API-enabling technology and Node, plus the phases of building software from start to finish.
  • You solve analytical problems well, stay accurate and detail-oriented, and work well without close supervision.
  • You can troubleshoot problems and come up with inventive technical solutions.
  • You are comfortable with software development tools, ideally some version of Visual Studio, and with Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • You write and communicate clearly.
  • Preferred: prior work experience in an office environment or an internship.

Conditions

The internship starts in May 2027 as part of the 2027 Summer Internship Program.

The schedule is hybrid, with work based at the headquarters in Des Moines.
