Description

You'd join the User Targeting team, which owns how the company's customers segment and target their users. Every message the company sends runs through pipelines that process billions of users per day.

The team works close to customers on a core, high-impact part of the product. The company is growing fast across the globe and is working to expand equity and opportunity both inside and outside the organization.

The company is headquartered in New York, with offices in Austin, Berlin, Bucharest, Chicago, Dubai, Jakarta, London, Paris, San Francisco, São Paulo, Singapore, Seoul, Sydney and Tokyo.

The team values a high personal bar, accountability, autonomy and openness to other views, and it likes people who enjoy learning and sharing outside interests.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build features across the Ruby on Rails backend and React frontend, from design review to production release.
  • Own medium-sized projects end to end: break the work down, set delivery dates and meet them.
  • Write and tune queries against MongoDB and ClickHouse, and learn how segmentation speed and cost shift as data grows.
  • Work with product managers, designers and other engineers to clarify requirements and ship what customers need.
  • Write thorough automated tests, review teammates' code and join the on-call rotation to keep systems stable.
  • Use AI tools, including agentic ones, to work through the large Ruby monolith, build proofs of concept and move from a request to a working solution quickly and safely. The team uses AI at every stage of delivery.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional experience building and shipping web applications, in full-stack or back-end services.
  • A solid grasp of software design, data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience with SQL and at least one production database.
  • Ability to turn an unclear feature request into tested, working code with limited oversight, asking the right questions along the way.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, and a record of doing well on teams.
  • Even if you do not meet 100% of the listed criteria, you are encouraged to apply.
  • Bonus: familiarity with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, React, Sidekiq and SQL or NoSQL databases.
  • Bonus: prior work with MongoDB, ClickHouse, Snowflake or other data lake tools.
  • Bonus: experience with a high-scale, high-throughput system.
  • Bonus: a strong interest in customer experience.
