Software Engineer 2

Description

This is a senior software engineering role in the DevOps area of a software engineering job family. It is a regular, onsite position of 40 hours per week.

The company is a global technology and professional services firm with about 26,000 staff in more than 50 countries. It supplies technology and mission services to U.S. government, defense and intelligence agencies, with work in AI, cloud, cyber and software development.

You will work on a mission-critical software application suite that the team keeps running in live production.

Responsibilities

• Watch live production systems to keep the application suite available, reliable and performing well.
• Spot, diagnose and respond to service outages, slowdowns and other operational problems.
• Carry out basic troubleshooting and corrective fixes.
• Support sustainment work on the systems.
• Work with development and operations colleagues to keep systems healthy, make operations more efficient and keep services delivered continuously.

Requirements

• A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree.
• 5+ years of related experience.
• Top Secret clearance with SCI access and a polygraph, held now or obtainable.
• Hands-on use of the Linux command line and its tools.
• Writing Bash scripts.
• Recent Python 3.x software development.
• Working with NoSQL databases, including MongoDB.
• Using containerization tools such as Docker and containerd.
• Applying CI/CD principles and tools, including GitLab CI.
• Using distributed logging and monitoring tools such as the ELK Stack and Prometheus/Grafana.
• Familiarity with container orchestration using Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with deploying containerized services on Kubernetes with Helm charts.
• Familiarity with messaging frameworks, including RabbitMQ.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code principles and tools such as Ansible.
• Experience using Git source control.
• Desired: experience with SQL databases, including PostgreSQL.
• Desired: experience with the Atlassian tools Jira and Confluence.

Conditions

Location: Annapolis Junction, Maryland, USA, onsite.

Scheduled at 40 hours per week, with no travel required.

U.S. citizenship is required.

The role does not require a public trust clearance.

The likely salary range is $152,150 to $205,850. This is not a guarantee. Pay depends on experience, geographic location and possibly contract requirements, and may fall outside this range.
