Responsibilities

• Set the architecture direction for resilient production systems that operate at large scale.
• Lead incident response, conduct in-depth root cause analysis, and plan company-wide ways to prevent outages.
• Define and oversee a secure multi-cloud Infrastructure as Code strategy and its maturity roadmap.
• Set reliability targets across the organization and hold teams accountable for them and for error budget compliance.
• Act as the main technical mentor, growing SRE skills and practices across engineering teams.
• Build and run automation that removes repetitive operational work and raises platform efficiency.
• Own capacity forecasting, cost optimization, and the FinOps strategy for core infrastructure.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related quantitative discipline such as statistics, economics, operations research, analytics, mathematics, or engineering.
• At least 10 years leading cross-organization reliability strategy and writing multi-year technical roadmaps.
• At least 8 years in global cloud architecture, optimization, and financial or security governance across multiple providers, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and GCP.
• Preferred: a master's degree.
• Preferred: 4+ years defining and driving IaC, CI/CD strategies, and best practices across an organization.
• Preferred: deep expertise optimizing complex, high-scale distributed systems and cloud-native architectures such as Kubernetes and serverless.
• Preferred: a track record of bringing SRE principles into mature Agile or Scrum teams.
• Preferred: experience designing full observability and advanced, metrics-driven SLO frameworks.
• Preferred: strong experience putting security and compliance governance, such as Zero Trust and secrets management, into cloud environments.
• Preferred: significant contributions to open-source projects or important internal platform innovation.
• Preferred: a proven record of designing, scaling, and running critical production platforms with measurable gains in reliability and efficiency.
• Preferred: experience using generative AI or headless AI to automate operations.
• Preferred: hands-on experience applying generative AI to improve automation, code quality, or operational workflows.
• Preferred: executive-level communication skills that help shape technology decisions across the C-suite and partner organizations.
• Preferred: deep systems programming skills for building production-grade platform services.

Conditions

Full-time base pay for this role in McLean, VA is $229,900 to $262,400 per year.

Candidates hired in other locations are paid within that location's range, and the exact offer appears in the offer letter.

Part-time pay is prorated based on the agreed number of regular hours.

The company will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization for this position.
