The company is driving a major transformation across its business, and the team is looking for data engineers who enjoy combining data with new technologies.

The company is a large group of builders and problem solvers who meet real customer needs with technology.

Responsibilities

  • Join agile teams to design, build, test, release and support full-stack technical solutions.
  • Guide developers, data analysts and data scientists who work in machine learning, distributed microservices, lakehouse architecture and full-stack systems.
  • Build solutions with Python, Spark, open-source relational and NoSQL databases, and cloud data warehouses such as Databricks and Snowflake.

  • Work with product managers and software engineers on cloud-first data solutions that power experiences for millions of Americans seeking financial empowerment.
  • Design, build and deliver cloud data solutions and applications largely on your own, with little supervision.
  • Set and enforce common data engineering design patterns that keep code high quality, easy to maintain and reusable across platforms and pipelines.
  • Act as the data engineering team's spokesperson, explaining technical ideas and data results clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build pipelines and platforms that scale, recover from failure and run efficiently as data volume and business demand grow.
  • Be a force multiplier: contribute hands-on while raising the skills of peers and junior engineers through mentoring.
  • Lead large, transformative data initiatives end to end, making key architecture decisions and weighing platforms such as Snowflake and Databricks against technical and business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related quantitative field such as statistics, economics, operations research, analytics, mathematics or engineering.
  • At least 6 years of application development experience. Internships do not count.

  • At least 4 years of programming in at least one of Python, Java or Scala.

  • Preferred: Master's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Preferred: 8+ years of data engineering experience.
  • Preferred: 4+ years of data modeling experience.
  • Preferred: 9+ years of application development with proven skill in Python, SQL, Scala or Java.

  • Preferred: 5+ years building or supporting distributed data or compute workloads with tools such as EMR, Spark, Glue or Databricks.
  • Preferred: 5+ years designing, implementing and operating real-time or streaming data pipelines.
  • Preferred: 3+ years working with data observability (e.g., Monte Carlo, Splunk) or data orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Dagster).
  • Preferred: 5+ years working with unstructured or semistructured data in NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB).
  • Preferred: 5+ years designing and supporting data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift).
