Description

Join Surfshark's VPN Engineering team to build and scale the core software powering our global infrastructure. You will own key stack components, optimize high-performance tools like WireGuard and HAProxy, and work with SRE to maintain a fast, secure fleet of thousands of servers. This role offers deep technical ownership, from kernel tuning and eBPF programming to architecting low-latency protocol extensions.

If you want to:

Design and scale our proprietary VPN software (SDN, Dausos, WCB) and extend tools like WireGuard and HAProxy;

Dig into the Linux networking stack, debug it, and tune it for high-scale traffic while maintaining custom Debian images;

Write eBPF programs for packet processing and architect systems for ultra-low latency and high throughput;

Lead R&D on custom protocol extensions and optimizations, drive large-scale refactoring, and set the coding standards others follow;

Work with SRE team to automate a global fleet through Ansible deployments and custom CI/CD pipelines.

And you can check off:

Proven experience tracing complex production issues across code, OS, and service boundaries;

Proven experience architecting solutions that hold up across thousands of servers;

Programming skills in Go and/or C;

Hands-on work with Ansible and a solid grasp of scalable deployment architectures.

Here’s the deal:

Growth and learning opportunities: time dedicated to learning, conferences, online learning platforms, and books for your professional development;

Health and wellness: we want you to feel and be your best. That's why we offer various benefits, from online workouts, a physical coach and a gym to regular mental health checks;

Tools of your choice: choose technical equipment and the tools you need to do your best;

Community and celebrations: get ready for long-lasting traditions such as yearly workation, Friday get-togethers, various team buildings and company celebrations;

Convenient commuting: traveling from point A to point B can be a pain. That’s why, depending on your unique circumstances, we compensate part of your public transport costs;

Work-life balance: We encourage working in the office, with the possibility of up to two remote days per week. Plus, with our WFA policy, you can work from almost anywhere in the world;

Premium Surfshark accounts: for you, your family, and friends;

Gross salary: 4750 - 7000 Eur/month for the Lithuanian market, 21900 - 33400 Pln/month for the Polish market. It may vary depending on your skills and experience.
