Senior Systems Engineer

The company runs one of the largest networks on the Internet, serving everyone from individual bloggers to small businesses and Fortune 500 companies. Its service protects and speeds up any online application without new hardware, installed software, or code changes. Traffic for these properties passes through its global network, which improves with each request, bringing better performance and fewer spam and attack problems.

The Global Resource Management team is a small group of engineers who build and maintain applications in the platform core, bringing order and clarity to resources used across the company. Their work helps the company scale efficiently, reach new customers, and keep the reliability users expect.

The team wants people who do not wait for a finished roadmap, who notice problems others have accepted, and who use current AI tools to build fixes. The culture rests on rapid iteration with AI, and shares every improvement with the whole team. Curiosity matters more than bureaucracy, and AI is treated as a partner on hard problems.

Responsibilities

• Work on complex, cross-cutting engineering problems that help every product by building organized, efficient, well-managed applications.
• Make core architecture decisions that reduce fanout and simplify dependencies, so product teams can adopt the platform easily.
• Propose architectures, write detailed specifications, and build high-quality, maintainable, scalable, highly available systems.
• Review code thoroughly, give useful feedback on specifications and designs, and make sure implementations follow reliability and security best practices.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional software development experience building and running high-scale distributed systems that cannot fail.
• Strong skill in Go (Golang) or a similar modern systems language.
• Proven record designing, building, and operating scalable, highly available services at cloud scale.
• Understanding of organization, dependency management, and resource orchestration in large multi-tenant environments.
• Experience in code review and in giving substantive feedback on design specifications. Able to work across teams to find shared problems and propose platform-level solutions.
• Optional: familiarity with the company's core technologies, such as edge computing or global networking.
• Optional: experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and related technologies.
