Description

The company designs GPUs, a line of work it started in 1999 and now describes as AI computing, with GPUs serving as the processing core of computers, robots and self-driving cars.

The company is growing its team and wants to hire strong engineers to help shape the next generation of computing.

Responsibilities

  • Design and write microcontroller firmware for GPU server platforms, mainly on ARM M-class microcontrollers.
  • Build C/C++ server manageability features in an embedded RTOS environment.
  • Bring up, debug and tune microcontroller firmware and write the manageability code for the company's server platforms.
  • Build embedded management software that handles reporting and connectivity between server management devices.
  • Implement register-based communication and DMTF standard messaging so that the BMC, GPUs, switches, memory, I/O expanders, sensors and local microcontroller peripherals work together.
  • Create a portable microcontroller framework that will run across many different server management subsystems.
  • Write and review code and design documents, and work with teammates to meet product requirements.
  • Maximise code coverage, automate unit tests, keep detailed test case reports, and produce quality reports covering static analysis, code coverage and microcontroller load.
  • Work with security and hardware teams to keep code aligned with security goals and give input on hardware design and architecture reviews.
  • Build performance-focused active monitoring BMC solutions using DMTF standards such as MCTP, Redfish, SPDM and PLDM.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering or computer science, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of low-level microcontroller firmware development on embedded microcontrollers using Zephyr or FreeRTOS.
  • Proven experience writing BMC and/or microcontroller firmware that manages CPU, GPU, network and storage devices.
  • Experience with USB and I3C, and working knowledge of ARM IDEs, debuggers, logic and protocol analysers, and oscilloscopes.
  • A thorough understanding of interrupt handling, multi-threading, DMA, memory management, and development under tight resource limits.
  • Strong embedded programming and scripting skills in C/C++, Bash, Python, Go or similar.
  • Ability to read and use hardware schematics, reference manuals and datasheets for embedded work.
  • Deep expertise with server manageability protocols such as MCTP, PLDM, SPDM, SMBUS and OCP recovery.
  • Solid grasp of Linux fundamentals, distributions, packages, upgrade mechanisms, and image building and deployment.
  • Nice to have: hands-on work with microcontroller firmware and out-of-band management.
  • Nice to have: hands-on experience implementing an MCTP stack in embedded environments or FPGA, or contributing to groups such as Open Compute, OpenBMC, DMTF or open source projects.
  • Nice to have: expertise in system software and platform security for x86/ARM rack and blade servers.
