Description

You will be hands-on and also own architecture and operations for Linux compute, engineering workspaces, project provisioning, LSF, EDA license servers, Perforce, monitoring and automation.

You will work with engineering, CAD and IT/IS teams to build scalable, dependable environments that behave the same way at every site and support semiconductor development.

The company is an embedded semiconductor solutions provider serving automotive, industrial, infrastructure and IoT markets, with over 21,000 engineers in more than 30 countries.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical direction for global EDA compute, covering Linux engineering environments and both interactive and batch workloads.
  • Build automation that improves reliability and reduces manual administration.
  • Troubleshoot complex compute and engineering-environment failures.
  • Work with IT/IS on compute, storage, networking and server needs, and contribute to capacity planning and the technical roadmap.
  • Own the architecture of engineering projects and workspaces, including creation, initialization, configuration and links to PDKs, EDA tools and workflows.
  • Provide extensible options so project teams can customize their environments while staying on a supported platform standard, and cut manual steps across the project lifecycle.
  • Lead global license-server infrastructure, standardizing deployment and administration and automating license updates, validation and auditing.
  • Write robust Python, shell and other tools for CAD infrastructure covering configuration generation, provisioning, monitoring and administration.
  • Connect CAD infrastructure to Jenkins/CI and service-management workflows, and improve observability, auditability and maintainability.
  • Build dashboards and metrics, track compute and license use, and identify capacity, performance and reliability risks and wasteful use of shared resources.
  • Shape the supported Linux OS strategy for EDA, coordinate tool compatibility with IT/IS, support migrations between Linux platform generations, and separate application requirements from infrastructure ownership.
  • Document architecture, scripts, configuration, dependencies and recovery procedures, provide escalation for hard problems, and train CAD and IT/IS engineers.
  • Set up primary and backup ownership for critical services and design resilience and failover strategies.
  • Standardize license infrastructure worldwide with regional CAD teams and IT/IS, and report on license capacity, availability and utilization.
  • For LSF, provide EDA expertise, work with IT/IS on architecture, provisioning and resource sharing, link project environments to batch compute, and automate detection of problematic workloads.
  • For Perforce, provide engineering-side expertise, support the architecture used by semiconductor teams, work with IT/IS on lifecycle, availability, storage, backup and ownership, and handle administration, troubleshooting, automation and monitoring.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in EDA/CAD infrastructure engineering within semiconductor development.
  • Strong Linux/Unix skills.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills, preferably in Python and shell.
  • Experience with LSF or comparable distributed compute environments.
  • Experience with enterprise version-control and data-management infrastructure such as Perforce Helix and IPLM.
  • Experience managing engineering projects and workspaces.
  • Understanding of compute, storage and network needs for EDA environments.
  • Experience with EDA licensing, including FlexNet-based environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Track record of building production-quality engineering automation.
  • Ability to work across global engineering, CAD and IT/IS organizations.
  • Strong technical writing and knowledge-transfer skills.
  • Highly Desirable:
  • Perforce server administration and architecture.
  • LSF administration or integration experience.
  • FlexNet license-server architecture.
  • Grafana or similar infrastructure monitoring.
  • Jenkins/CI automation.
  • ServiceNow integration.
  • Cadence or other major semiconductor EDA tools.
  • Linux infrastructure and RHEL migration experience.
  • Experience supporting geographically distributed engineering environments.

Conditions

All qualified applicants are considered equally, regardless of protected characteristics such as age, faith, background, or military or veteran status.
