The company is hiring a principal EDA/CAD engineer to lead technical work on its worldwide engineering compute and CAD infrastructure.
The role blends hands-on engineering with architecture and operational ownership across Linux compute, engineering workspaces, project provisioning, LSF integration, EDA license infrastructure, Perforce, monitoring and automation.
You will work with engineering, CAD and IT/IS teams to build scalable, reliable environments that stay consistent across sites and support semiconductor development.
The company makes embedded semiconductor solutions for automotive, industrial, infrastructure and IoT markets, and has over 21,000 engineers in more than 30 countries.
Responsibilities
Lead technical direction for global EDA compute, and build and support Linux engineering environments for both interactive and batch work.
Work with IT/IS on compute, storage, networking and server needs, and contribute to capacity planning and technical roadmaps.
Troubleshoot complex compute and engineering-environment problems, and automate work to improve reliability and cut manual administration.
Own and evolve the project and workspace architecture, including creation and initialization mechanisms and project configuration infrastructure.
Keep environment setup consistent across projects and sites, and build interfaces between project configuration, PDKs, EDA tools and engineering workflows.
Offer extensible mechanisms that let project teams customize their environments while staying on a supported platform standard, and reduce manual work across the project lifecycle.
Lead global EDA license-server infrastructure, define standard approaches for license deployment and administration, and automate license updates, validation and auditing.
Write robust Python, shell and other automation for CAD infrastructure, and maintain engineering utilities and infrastructure scripts.
Automate configuration generation, provisioning, monitoring and administration, and integrate CAD infrastructure with Jenkins/CI and service-management workflows where suitable.
Improve observability, auditability and maintainability of infrastructure services.
Build dashboards and metrics for engineering infrastructure, monitor compute and license use, and spot capacity, performance and reliability risks.
Help plan forward capacity with infrastructure teams, and build ways to find inefficient use of shared engineering resources.
Contribute to the supported Linux OS strategy for EDA, coordinate EDA tool compatibility with IT/IS, and support migrations between Linux platform generations.
Define clear engineering requirements for infrastructure standards, and help separate application requirements from infrastructure operational ownership.
Provide EDA expertise for LSF compute environments, work with IT/IS on LSF architecture, provisioning and resource sharing, and support links between project environments and batch compute.
Develop methods to monitor compute utilization and efficiency, and automate detection of inefficient or problematic workloads.
Provide engineering-side expertise for Perforce server infrastructure, including architecture, lifecycle, availability, storage, backup and operational ownership with IT/IS.
Support administration and troubleshooting of engineering Perforce environments, and build automation and monitoring around them.
Maintain architecture and operational documentation, including scripts, configuration, dependencies and recovery procedures.
Act as escalation point for complex infrastructure problems, train CAD engineers and IT/IS teams, and set up sustainable primary and backup ownership of critical services.
Design resilience and failover strategies, standardize license infrastructure globally with regional CAD teams and IT/IS, and support license capacity planning and availability and utilization reporting.
Requirements
Significant experience in EDA/CAD infrastructure engineering within semiconductor development.
Strong Linux or Unix skills.
Strong scripting and automation skills, preferably in Python and shell.
Experience with LSF or comparable distributed compute environments.
Experience with enterprise version-control and data-management systems such as Perforce Helix and IPLM.
Experience managing engineering projects and workspaces.
Understanding of compute, storage and network needs for EDA environments.
Experience with EDA licensing and FlexNet-based licensing environments.
Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
Experience building production-quality engineering automation.
Ability to work across global engineering, CAD and IT/IS organizations.
Strong skills in technical documentation and knowledge transfer.
Highly desirable: Perforce server administration and architecture.
Highly desirable: LSF administration or integration experience.
Equal opportunity employer that does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, religion, national origin, gender, gender identity or expression, age, sexual orientation, military or veteran status, or any other protected basis.
