Description

The team is hiring a senior solutions architect for pre-sales work, to make sure the company's growth rests on solid technical alignment with its data platform and customer needs.

Pre-sales architects guide customers and users in designing and building reliable, scalable systems on the company's data platform. The team includes experienced technical sellers, software architects, founders, and developers, and it owns customer outcomes from software design through deployment and operations. You will partner with sales executives to solve customers' business problems with the platform, help win deals, and advise users ranging from startups to very large enterprise IT organizations.

The company is the only globally distributed, multi-cloud data platform of its kind. It serves over 67,000 customers, including AI-native startups and about 75% of the Fortune 100.

Responsibilities

  • Design scalable, high-performance applications, systems, and infrastructure for large software projects built on the company's database.
  • Advise customers on architecture patterns and optimization, and explain the business value to the stakeholders who matter.
  • Work with sales on account planning, opportunity prioritization and qualification, and pipeline strategy. Own the technical side, including discovery, demos, proofs of value, presentations, sizing, and documentation.
  • Create demand in your territory through self-led technical initiatives, trade shows, and account-based marketing events.
  • Build strong customer relationships, develop champions, and ensure customers succeed and stay satisfied.
  • Look for ways to improve the company's solutions and processes, such as passing field feedback to the product team, and mentor other solutions consulting colleagues.
  • Keep learning the product suite and industry trends through ongoing training and professional development.
  • Work on complex opportunities that require in-depth analysis of many factors.

Requirements

  • Ideally 8 to 11 years of related customer-facing experience, including 5 to 7 years in pre-sales for enterprise software.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience with modern scripting languages (e.g. Python, Node.js, SQL) and/or widely used programming languages (e.g. C/C++, Java, C).
  • Experience designing scalable, highly available distributed systems in the cloud and on-premises.
  • Proven ability to review complex existing architectures with customers and recommend technology-based improvements.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical and business ideas clearly and persuasively to technology and business leaders.
  • Ability to advise sales teams on a multi-threaded account strategy, coordinating company and ecosystem resources toward a mutually beneficial account plan.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Nice to have: experience selling databases and/or deploying applications on any major cloud provider.
  • Nice to have: experience with database programming and data models.
  • Nice to have: experience in data engineering or AI/ML projects.
  • Nice to have: experience modernizing legacy systems and platforms into current, scalable, efficient technology stacks.
  • Nice to have: understanding of sales methodologies or frameworks such as MEDDPICC or Command of the Message.
  • Nice to have: a certification in the company's database.
  • Nice to have: a cloud provider certification.
