Senior Software Test Engineer – Retail Data

The AV Fleet Data Engineering team defines, integrates, and validates the Retail AV Data Collection pipelines that support automated driving development at scale.

The role is hybrid and based at Milford Proving Ground in Milford, MI.

Responsibilities

• Lead the automation and execution of testing for vehicle-based and cloud-connected data collection systems.
• Plan and run validation for the on-vehicle and bench data recording stack (RADC and ASDR), including automated tests, CI/CD, and end-to-end data quality and performance benchmarks.
• Own RADC validation for key programs: test planning, bench and vehicle execution, and triage of data recording defects.
• Build and extend RADC CI/CD and validation automation with Autobot and ATP/Jenkins, including reusable pipelines, scripts, and AI-assisted workflows that speed up test authoring, log triage, and reporting.
• Keep RADC benches ready for CI/CD: align hardware and software baselines with target configurations, automate flashing, and keep benches available for regression and feature testing.
• Set up and maintain RADC benches, including ECU wiring, power supply and relay integration, Autobot keywords, and a setup that matches fleet configurations.
• Design and run performance and quality benchmarks for VTM tasks such as 1411 HoLCA and 1414 SC OpStats, covering upload latency, completeness, and data integrity.
• Add new camera and consent features to benches and test plans, including Autobot and Robot tests and Confluence and Jira procedure documentation.
• Write and maintain technical material such as bench setup guides, test repositories, SDV2 execution plans, and Xray repository structure.
• Work with cross-functional teams to set validation priorities, flag risks, and close complex issues that span several teams.
• Work with software and platform teams to keep data collection robust and scalable for current and future ADAS and AV programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, computer, or software engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of engineering or technical experience.
• Hands-on work with on-vehicle or bench systems, including reading their logs and metrics.
• Skill in scripting and automation, such as Python or Robot Framework, for test authoring, data analysis, and tooling.
• Preferred: experience with CI/CD and test automation tools such as Jenkins/ATP, Autobot, and Xray, and with keeping bench environments running as CI/CD targets (agent setup, flashing automation, health checks, monitoring).
• Preferred: a track record of debugging complex cross-component issues involving signals, consent, memory, OTA, or deployment, and driving them to resolution across teams.
• Preferred: familiarity with Azure-hosted data lakes, Centra dashboards, and Elastic or Xray analysis for large-scale data quality and performance work.
• Preferred: experience applying AI agents and LLM tools to engineering work, such as log summaries, test generation, documentation, or pipeline and config generation, with a focus on measurable efficiency gains.
• Preferred: proven experience training or mentoring others on tools, processes, or architecture, such as running internal trainings, writing how-to guides, or leading forums.
• Preferred: a focus on continuous improvement and technical leadership, including spotting process gaps and driving automation and efficiency work.

Conditions

Hybrid: report to the Milford, MI site at least 3 times per week, or as often as the manager sets.

You must be able to legally drive a motor vehicle on a regular basis and pass a Motor Vehicle Report review.
