Senior Software Engineer

Description

This is a senior software engineering role based at 811 Excellence Drive, Bentonville, AR 72716.

You will work in collaborative engineering teams alongside product and other cross-functional teams to build and support services, APIs, user interfaces and ML components.

The role covers delivery, design, DevOps monitoring and mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Own scoped feature or model delivery, including implementation, iteration, testing and ongoing support for assigned services, APIs, user interfaces or ML model components.
• Keep a product focus and tie your work to wider platform, system and domain goals.
• Write clean, dependable code in languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, Rust, Dart and C++.
• Take a software project from build to upkeep, covering CI/CD deployments, automated testing, observability, monitoring and maintenance.
• Build scripts that automate repetitive tasks and add telemetry features on your own.
• Review code structure and help with defect triage and debugging.
• Connect AI agents and ML components to internal and external APIs to make software smarter.
• Use GenAI tools such as GitHub Copilot to speed up development and bring in new ideas.
• Apply object-oriented principles and documentation-driven coding to keep code modular, maintainable and consistent.
• Help turn high-level designs into detailed designs using mock screens, pseudocode and functional logic.
• Weigh trade-offs and design scalable, secure, maintainable systems that meet the company's standards.
• Join design reviews and make sure suitable patterns from good design practice are applied.
• Keep learning, and help peers grow through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
• Work with stakeholders to pin down complex business or user problems, turn pain points into technical requirements and define metrics for success and impact.
• Work with cross-functional teams so delivered solutions meet user needs and technical expectations.
• Carry out complex maintenance and track application performance with suitable metrics and tools.
• Keep milestones and timelines on track using program reporting, CI/CD tools and logging systems.
• Support reliable, high-quality systems through proactive monitoring, testing and continuous integration.
• Help improve engineering practice and team wellbeing, and contribute to innovation, knowledge sharing and platform improvements.
• Protect uptime, performance and customer experience by owning the quality of the features you deliver.

Requirements

• A Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering or a related area, plus 1 year of experience in software engineering or a related area; or a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in those fields, plus 3 years of experience in software engineering or a related area.
• Experience coding in object-oriented languages (Spring Boot and C) and their frameworks and libraries for web development.
• Experience implementing and overseeing cloud infrastructure on Azure and AWS, using Kubernetes, virtual machines, Traffic Manager, Load Balancer, VPC, Logic Apps, CloudWatch and SQL databases (Postgres, Oracle and MySQL).
• Experience with container deployments using Docker, including Docker images, Docker Hub, registries and deploying containers to Kubernetes clusters.
• Experience designing, building and sustaining CI/CD pipelines that automate microservice deployments, improve development workflows and produce consistent, reliable releases.
• Experience writing Python and Bash scripts to automate tasks, and building monitoring and alerting tools for High Performance Computing (HPC) systems.
• Experience managing and querying MySQL, Postgres and Oracle databases.
• Experience with Prometheus and Grafana for collecting, moving, aggregating and visualizing metrics, logs and traces.
• Experience with Agile and Scrum, and with JIRA and ServiceNow for project management, including status transitions, issue types and automation rules that track requirements and performance.
• Experience using Splunk for log management, analysis and monitoring in a DevOps environment.
• Experience using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and Application Insights to manage resources, analyze performance and resolve issues.
• Experience building and integrating automations with the Spring Boot framework.
• Any amount of experience with the required skills is accepted.

Conditions

Pay is $90,000.00 to $180,000.00 per year.

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.
