Description

This senior role sits on collaborative engineering teams that build services, APIs, user interfaces and ML model components.

You will work with a product mindset and tie your output to wider platform, system and domain goals.

Responsibilities

  • Own assigned feature or model deliveries, and handle their build, iteration, testing and ongoing support.
  • Write clean, efficient and reliable code in JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, Rust, Dart or C++.
  • Run the full software lifecycle, including CI/CD deployments, automated tests, observability, monitoring and upkeep.
  • Write scripts that automate repetitive work, and build telemetry features on your own.
  • Review code structure and help manage defects and debugging.
  • Connect AI agents and ML components to internal and external APIs to make software smarter.
  • Use GenAI tools such as GitHub Copilot to move faster and try new ideas.
  • Apply object-oriented principles and documented coding practices so code stays modular, maintainable and consistent.
  • Help turn high-level designs into detailed ones using mock screens, pseudocode and functional logic.
  • Weigh trade-offs and design scalable, secure, maintainable systems that meet the company's standards.
  • Join design reviews and make sure suitable design patterns and principles are used.
  • Keep learning, and help peers grow through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
  • Work with stakeholders to clarify complex business and user problems, and turn pain points into technical requirements.
  • Set clear metrics to show whether a solution works and what impact it has.
  • Work with cross-functional teams so solutions meet user needs and technical expectations.
  • Carry out complex maintenance and track application performance with suitable metrics and tools.
  • Keep to project milestones and timelines through reporting, CI/CD tooling and program logs.
  • Support reliable delivery through proactive monitoring, testing and continuous integration.
  • Support uptime, performance and customer experience by owning the quality of the features you ship.
  • Take responsibility for deliverables, meeting quality standards and business goals.
  • Act on issues without waiting, and drive projects to completion.
  • Make sound technical decisions, weighing trade-offs and long-term effects on architecture and business goals.
  • Adapt quickly, learn new technologies and understand the wider system.
  • Anticipate downstream effects of technical choices, and use feedback to improve outcomes.
  • Communicate complex ideas clearly to technical and non-technical people, and share knowledge openly.
  • Look for ways to improve processes, tools and products, and test new approaches.
  • Support a collaborative engineering culture that values continuous improvement and team wellbeing.

Requirements

  • Hold a master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering or a related area, plus 1 year of software engineering or related experience.
  • Or hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent in one of those fields, plus 3 years of software engineering or related experience.
  • Have designed and implemented REST API web services using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Have written object-oriented code in Java.
  • Have designed client-server and mobile systems architecture.
  • Have designed relational databases such as Azure SQL, Oracle and Postgres, and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB and Cassandra.
  • Have built CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration with Jenkins and Concord.
  • Have built container-based applications with Docker, S3, AWS CDK and Kubernetes.
  • Have built event streaming and messaging apps with Apache Kafka, JMS and SNS.
  • Have developed enterprise applications with frameworks such as Spring, and with microservices architecture.
