Description

The team builds software for Computed Tomography (CT) imaging systems, covering the Scanner Desktop, operator workflows, system integration and platform services. You will work with Systems Engineering, Clinical Applications, Product Owners, Software Architects, Verification and Validation, and global development teams to turn customer and clinical needs into dependable software.

The role spans the full software lifecycle for medical device software, from requirements and design through testing, release and post-release support. Engineering practices include Agile and Lean methods, continuous integration, test automation, and AI-assisted productivity tools. You will also mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, verify and maintain software for CT systems, including Scanner Desktop applications, clinical workflows, system interfaces and platform services.
  • Lead the design and build of complex features, weigh technical options, and shape architecture decisions for the Scanner Desktop subsystem.
  • Analyse requirements, assess impact, write software designs, code, debug, review code, test and integrate.
  • Investigate customer-reported problems, defects and field escalations. Run root cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive actions that improve quality and reliability.
  • Write and expand automated tests, raise test coverage, and build automation that makes engineering faster and the product more reliable.
  • Refactor and improve code continuously while meeting quality, regulatory and cybersecurity requirements for medical device software.
  • Apply Agile, Lean, software FMEA, DevSecOps and continuous integration practices to keep the code maintainable and reliable.
  • Study and tune application performance, scalability, resource use and system reliability.
  • Work with core data structures, algorithms, multithreaded code, distributed systems and modern design patterns.
  • Own features end to end, from requirements through design, implementation, verification, release and post-release support.
  • Mentor junior engineers and give technical guidance that raises the team's standards.
  • Share technical information, risks and recommendations with stakeholders, with enough detail and at the right time.
  • Act as technical lead on key Scanner Desktop initiatives, guiding architecture and direction, developing engineers, and making sure commitments are delivered.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) and at least 4 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience with Java, OSGi-based applications, the Spring Framework, REST APIs and service-oriented architectures.
  • Experience with JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, Angular or similar modern UI frameworks.
  • Experience developing on Linux and Windows.
  • Experience with Git, GitLab, Maven, Gradle, Jenkins, Artifactory, SonarQube and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with automated testing, unit testing, integration testing and test automation frameworks.
  • Experience writing scripts in Python, Groovy, Shell or similar languages.
  • Knowledge of YAML, JSON and API-driven integrations.
  • Experience debugging complex issues and running root cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity, secure coding, static code analysis and software quality tools.
  • Understanding of software verification, traceability, risk management and regulated development is preferred.
  • Experience in medical device software development is preferred.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools, automation frameworks and engineering productivity tools is a plus.
  • Ability to write high quality, maintainable, scalable code that meets engineering standards, using the technology chosen for each project.
  • Business acumen: keeps up with technology trends, brings new ideas to the team, and understands the customer value the project delivers.
  • Understands how team and personal goals connect to the organisation's vision and decision-making framework.
  • Communicates opinions clearly, backs them with data or facts, and breaks problems down and estimates development tasks.
  • Delivers assigned work on time and to a high standard, owns deliverables independently, and clarifies requirements when they are ambiguous.
  • Looks for ways to innovate, experiments with new frameworks, and adapts quickly when requirements change.
