Description

The company runs an online marketplace that connects manufacturers with buyers, including Fortune 1000 companies, who need access to manufacturing capacity around the world.

The team's platform, part of the company, is where millions of buyers find and source from North American manufacturers and suppliers.

The company is shifting from a supplier directory to AI-assisted sourcing, where buyers describe what they need and the platform does the matching.

The team is hiring a senior engineer to build and maintain the buyer and supplier product experiences, along with the AI features central to this shift. You will work with a product manager and other engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Write code yourself, review others' work, and help troubleshoot problems.
  • Set coding patterns and designs that the team follows.
  • Own the design and delivery of features from problem to production, largely on your own, including AI features built on LLMs, retrieval, and search, with evaluations and guardrails for accuracy and safety.
  • Mentor engineers on the team and carry out detailed code reviews that raise the standard for how others review.
  • Take responsibility for testing and reliability of what you ship, meeting customer expectations and business deadlines.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of software development experience, with a focus on results and a habit of shaping the team's direction rather than only building to spec.
  • Full-stack skills that carry over: backend services in TypeScript and Node.js with GraphQL APIs, a React and Next.js frontend, PostgreSQL, and search tools such as OpenSearch. Equivalent experience in another modern stack counts equally, and experience with these exact tools is not required.
  • Hands-on experience building AI product features, such as LLM applications, retrieval-augmented generation, vector search, or search relevance. You build with these tools and test their output rigorously, whatever the framework.
  • Strong execution, debugging, and communication skills, with a priority on unit and integration testing.
  • Fast learner who works fluently in an AI-native development environment and shares what you learn with others.
  • E-commerce or marketplace product experience is a plus.
  • Bonus: experience with image and text embeddings and search, agent orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph or LangChain, and fine-tuning or adapting models for a specific domain.

Conditions

Estimated base salary is $163,750 to $167,500 per year, plus an annual bonus, depending on job-related skills, relevant experience, and location.

Hybrid work arrangement.

Equal opportunity employer; applicants are considered without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran, or disability status.

Benefits

  • Total compensation includes base pay, bonus, and equity.
  • A benefits package is offered alongside pay, and it is competitive.
