The company is a modular B2B payments platform that combines commercial card issuing, payment accounts, FX, and spend management in one system, adapting to existing setups rather than requiring customers to replace them.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Backend, Workflows & Policies (m/f/d) to join one of our cross-functional teams of frontend and backend engineers, product managers, and designers. The team builds and maintains the solutions that put customers in control of their company spending: configurable approval policies for card requests and bank transfers, AI-assisted transaction review, and automated reimbursement of personal spend by employees, all supported by task-driven workflows across the company platform. This is high-impact, high-scale engineering at the core of a fast-growing fintech, where precision, resilience, and smart execution directly shape how money moves for thousands of organisations.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualise, define, and develop our banking platform.
• Ensure a scalable, maintainable, and secure microservice architecture.
• Design and evolve RESTful APIs that power both our own products and partner integrations.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical RFCs across the engineering group.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers in a cross-functional team.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve the performance and reliability of production services.
• Implement unit, integration, and E2E tests.
• WHAT YOU’LL BRING
• 5+ years of relevant experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Expertise in building testable, maintainable, and extendable architecture, with care for engineering craft and the trade-offs behind technical decisions.
• Knowledge of distributed architecture patterns and antipatterns.
• Proficiency with REST APIs and solid working knowledge of relational databases (we use PostgreSQL).
• Experience with agentic programming.
• Experience with AWS and Docker.
• Bonus: experience with Terraform.
