Description

The company AI Tools team builds and rolls out AI-powered tools that remove friction from developer work, then extends them across the organization as they mature.

The team builds the AI platform layer behind code generation, AI-assisted code review, agentic workflows and developer tooling company-wide, owns the MCP registry and gateway that connect developers to AI capabilities, and builds the technical guardrails for responsible AI use.

The team wants a senior engineer who works across AI, platform engineering and developer experience. The systems you build will be used daily by thousands of engineers, covering LLM gateways, MCP server infrastructure, AI-native agents and compliance tooling.

You will help set the direction for integrating new AI capabilities into the platform and act as a technical anchor on a team that ships quickly and holds a high bar for quality.

You will work directly with the engineers who use these tools through office hours, Slack support and the Champions program, and their feedback will shape your work.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build the AI platform layer, including LLM gateways, MCP registries, abstraction APIs and shared infrastructure that other teams depend on.
  • Architect and implement AI agents and automation that improve the developer workflow, such as code review, documentation and testing.
  • Evaluate and integrate AI model providers, weighing cost, safety and performance.
  • Track new models, tools and frameworks, and recommend to engineering leadership whether to adopt, evaluate or pass on each.
  • Lead technical design for complex cross-cutting projects with the Security, DevEx and infrastructure teams.
  • Build observability and governance tooling that shows the organization how AI tools are used.
  • Turn AI policy and compliance requirements into working controls in the platform.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience.
  • 3+ years building and running backend services or platform infrastructure in production.
  • Strong Python and/or TypeScript skills.
  • Hands-on experience building or integrating LLM APIs such as OpenAI or Anthropic, with working knowledge of prompt engineering, evaluation pipelines and model selection tradeoffs.
  • Solid grasp of AI security and responsible AI, including prompt injection, model misuse, data leakage, output validation and enforcing policy guardrails in live AI systems.
  • You keep up closely with new model releases, tooling changes and emerging frameworks and bring that energy to the team's work.
  • Hands-on experience designing and building AI agents, including agentic frameworks and patterns such as ReAct, and shipping agents that run reliably in production.
  • Experience building MCP servers, Claude skills or similar tool-use integrations that extend AI into real workflows.
  • Comfort designing REST APIs and service-oriented architectures.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker and cloud deployment. Workflow orchestration and infrastructure-as-code are a plus.
  • Understanding of enterprise security patterns, including authentication, authorization, SSO and secrets management.
  • Familiarity with logging, metrics and tracing, and a habit of building systems that are easy to monitor.
  • Willingness to work directly with the engineers who use your tools, treating user feedback, support channels and adoption work as part of the role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to align engineering, security and product stakeholders.
