Description

The company is going through a major change in how it operates and in how it will shape the future of transportation.

This is an open role, not a current vacancy, and new applications are welcome.

Artificial Intelligence will be used in the hiring process for this role.

The role supports the Test Environment Agile Release Train (SIL ART) as a Virtualization and SIL Integration Engineer.

The group builds virtual environments that let teams develop, verify and validate embedded controllers and calibrations in these areas: propulsion thermal management, battery management, chassis and brake controls, and body electronics (vehicle access, occupant comfort, occupant protection, lighting, visibility and vehicle state).

Simulation integration engineers are responsible for delivering a quality simulation environment on time to meet customer requirements.

The role calls for strong modeling skills, solid knowledge of system simulation and integration, and the ability to manage varied technical and customer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and integration of cosimulation components that meet end-user test needs.
  • Build and test virtual controller components such as HWIO, RTOS and communication models.
  • Create virtual controller models that can be reused across different simulations.
  • Obtain, develop and parameterize subsystem models, such as sensors and actuators, and ECU behavioral models.
  • Integrate plant models and other ECU models into a dynamic virtual simulation.
  • Work with development engineers on new feature requirements, issue resolution and correct implementation.
  • Work with system engineers to define SIMBOMs (the required cosimulation assets) from test requirements.
  • Write and maintain detailed documents for each release.
  • Support released simulations, help with user testing and troubleshoot problems.
  • Give technical support and guidance to other team members.
  • Make sure the cosimulation environments are delivered with quality.
  • Support cloud deployments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, computer science or a related field.
  • 3-7 years of software engineering experience.
  • Proficient in Embedded C and Python.
  • Competent with embedded controls software and automated build processes, including the gcc compiler, gdb debugger, Eclipse, Jenkins and ETAS INCA tools.
  • Adept with MATLAB and Simulink for plant model development and integration, with basic use of other simulation tools such as GT-Power, AMESIM and CarSim.
  • Proficient in automotive communication technologies such as CAN, LIN, SPI and automotive Ethernet.
  • Familiar with the FMU/FMI standards and SSP.
  • Familiar with the AUTOSAR Layered Software Architecture.
  • Preferred: master's degree in engineering, computer science or a related field.
  • Preferred: 5+ years of embedded software development experience.
  • Preferred: experience in virtualization or software integration.
  • Preferred: experience designing and developing software for vehicle body controls, propulsion thermal, battery management, chassis and brake controls.

Conditions

The salary range for this role is $115,000 to $164,600. The actual base salary offered within this range depends on job-related factors.

This role is hybrid: you report to the Markham Elevation Centre (MEC) at least three times per week.
