Description

The company is a healthcare business working across medicines and medical technology, and this role sits in its R&D Data, Data Science and AI group, supporting Therapeutics Development and Supply.

You will be a hands-on individual contributor building applied AI, machine learning and statistical models for development, manufacturing and clinical supply work.

You will work alongside process development, CMC, clinical supply, manufacturing, quality, regulatory and digital teams to turn data science into practical tools with measurable impact on CMC development, product development, dossier preparation, technical development and clinical supply.

The role is posted for Madrid, Spain; Malvern, Pennsylvania; Spring House, Pennsylvania; and Turnhout or Antwerp, Belgium.

Responsibilities

  • Run exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, model selection, hyperparameter tuning and performance evaluation.
  • Write clear, documented analytical code in Python and modern data science tools, including cloud-based services.
  • Apply software engineering practice in your work: version control, testing, documentation, reproducibility and code review.
  • Use current development environments, including AI-assisted coding tools where they fit, to move faster without sacrificing quality, transparency or maintainability.
  • Work with scientists, engineers and quality professionals to understand their data and requirements, then design ML and AI solutions around them.
  • Manage tasks across several projects at once and report progress to the team lead.
  • Take part in technical reviews, cross-functional capability groups and capability-building activities.

Requirements

  • Required: an advanced degree in data science, statistics, computer science, engineering, chemistry, physics or a related quantitative field.
  • Required: 1, 3 years of experience in applied data science, machine learning or statistical modeling, which may include graduate research.
  • Required: proficiency in Python and common data science libraries such as scikit-learn, pandas, numpy, PyTorch and TensorFlow.
  • Required: strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Required: good communication skills and the ability to work well in cross-functional teams.
  • Preferred: a Ph.D. in mathematics, statistics, engineering, chemical engineering, computer science, data science, operations research, chemistry, physics, pharmaceutical sciences or another related quantitative or scientific field.
  • Preferred: experience with pharmaceutical, bioprocess, manufacturing or healthcare data.
  • Preferred: familiarity with experimental design, Bayesian methods or scientific computing.
  • Preferred: exposure to building or deploying agent-based AI solutions.
  • Preferred: exposure to cloud-based data science environments such as AWS and Snowflake.
  • Preferred skills: advanced analytics, business intelligence (BI), coaching, collaboration, critical thinking, data analysis, database management, data privacy standards, data reporting, data savvy, data science, data visualization, econometric models, process improvement, technical credibility, technological savvy and workflow analysis.
