Senior Scientist - Drug Discovery (AI/ML)

Description

Senior Scientist role in cell therapy discovery on a growing Cell Therapy Team that develops new cell therapy products.

Hiring at Scientist or Senior Scientist level, for someone who works independently and brings demonstrated experience in computational biology applied to cell therapy, immunology, and/or immuno-oncology.

The job pairs building computational models from large omic datasets with designing and running lab experiments, then generating and interpreting the results. Work is done closely with others.

Responsibilities

• Plan, run, and troubleshoot discovery experiments on your own.
• Assess data in the context of drug discovery, reach your own conclusions, and decide which experiments come next.
• Build, develop, and deploy AI and machine learning models, including deep learning, that draw insights from structured and unstructured data for new therapies.
• Teach technical methods to the team and share out administrative work where practical.
• Collaborate across a matrix structure with colleagues in other functions.
• Give presentations within the Cell Therapy Unit and to other functions.
• Make sure your work and your peers' work meets internal company standards and external regulations.

Requirements

• PhD in a relevant field such as bioinformatics, systems biology, applied mathematics, statistics, data science, or computer science, or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years in cell therapy, immunology, immuno-oncology, computational biology, or data science.
• Proficiency in Python, R, or both.
• Prior work on UNIX-based systems, high-performance computing such as SLURM, and managing large-scale data.
• Deep expertise in omics, with the ability to process large biological datasets such as single cell and spatial transcriptomics, and in-house proprietary sources such as in vitro or in vivo data.
• Solid grasp of AI, predictive modelling, and the statistics used to train machine learning models.
• Hands-on skill with T-cell functional assays, including in vitro cytotoxicity, proliferation, cytokine measurement, and multi-parameter flow cytometry.
• Motivation and ability to see projects through to completion, both alone and within a team.
• Desirable: experience in drug development in an industry setting.

Annual base pay ranges from $118,870.40 to $178,305.60.
