Description

You will lead engineers and other specialists who design, build and run complex water treatment projects for the industrial market portfolio.

You are accountable for how each project in that portfolio turns out overall.

You work alongside the Lead Engineer and the Sourcing Project Leader and take charge of everything from contract signing through process and equipment design, vendor selection, fabrication, shipping, installation and startup.

You champion quality and safety throughout, keep the project within scope, schedule and budget, report status and budget progress, and set expectations with clients and vendors.

The company is a global environmental services group with about 218,000 employees across five continents, focused on water, energy and waste. Its Water Tech Business is a group of seasoned staff working on water scarcity, quality, productivity and energy.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of delivering water treatment equipment projects from start to finish.
  • Set clear project objectives and organize how the contract will be carried out.
  • Build and keep realistic plans covering scope, budget, schedule and major milestones.
  • Coordinate the team so each member knows the priorities, the project structure and their own role.
  • Partner with customers, suppliers and internal teams to meet contract and technical requirements.
  • Track progress through regular reviews and internal reports, and adjust plans when needed.
  • Raise issues or events that could materially affect cost, schedule, scope or quality without delay.
  • Spot, assess and manage project risks and opportunities.
  • Manage project changes and support claims handling where needed.
  • Take part in technical meetings and project reviews.
  • Work with technical experts and discipline engineers to resolve problems and tackle critical topics.
  • Maintain action plans and make sure actions close on time in line with project goals.

Requirements

  • Required: a bachelor's degree in engineering, business, economics or an equivalent field.
  • Required: at least 10 years managing projects that include equipment supply and construction.
  • Required: a valid passport.
  • Required: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or the ability to earn it within one year.
  • Preferred: experience managing engineering and procurement contracts.
  • Preferred: experience designing or building industrial process systems, particularly water treatment in the chemical, oil and gas, or power markets.

Conditions

The job is remote and can be based anywhere in North America.

Expect domestic and international travel for 5-20% of your time.

You must be able to work lawfully in the U.S. immediately; the employer will not sponsor applicants for U.S. work authorization, such as an H-1B visa.

You work in a networked, highly flexible role and collaborate with many stakeholders.

You communicate clearly and concisely, analyze problems carefully and rigorously, and tailor messages for audiences from project teams to senior and executive leaders at the company and at client organizations.

You bring a foundation in engineering principles and knowledge of water treatment design and operation.

You direct experts, coach team members as needed, run project meetings effectively, and resolve team conflicts when they arise.

You handle multiple shifting demands with professionalism and sound judgment, including under ambiguity or changing conditions.

You bring strong planning, organization and time management skills and work well in a team.

The company values diverse teams and is an equal opportunity employer that considers every application without discrimination.
