Description

The company is applying AI and machine learning to drug development, aiming for therapies that give better outcomes, lower costs and fewer side effects.

You will own AI products end to end, from early ideas through to launch. You will work largely on your own on complex problems, alongside internal and external technical teams.

You will set the direction for each product, keep it aligned with the company's wider delivery strategy, and work closely with senior leaders.

You will join a team that works close to science, uses the company's large data assets, and whose work reaches patients. Stakeholders include expert scientists who will test your reasoning. Projects get significant investment.

The team works in an agile way, iterating quickly so ideas can become products fast.

The role is a Senior Product Manager, AI/ML. Scope: a product is a tool or service delivered to end users that helps them get their jobs done or solves a problem.

Responsibilities

  • Set the goals for each AI product, explaining the why and the what, and define how success will be measured.
  • Understand the wider delivery and data strategy and make sure plans are carried out.
  • Use your analytical skills and knowledge of software engineering practice, including coding and integration with agentic frameworks, to guide product development.
  • Keep products on track by communicating clearly across teams and stakeholders against agreed goals and timelines.
  • Run iterative development using agile practices, with regular inspection, adaptation and improvement.
  • Represent the user through discovery work and by addressing unmet needs.
  • Define and drive data requirements and strategy so model development is sequenced correctly and projects deliver on time.
  • Help manage the AI risk register and uphold the company's data governance standards.
  • Make sure every project follows the required planning, reporting, ethics and governance processes.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree and/or practical job experience in pharma or drug discovery and in machine learning.
  • Deep expertise in a basic science such as biology, chemistry, physics or mathematics.
  • Turn strategy into action: tell a clear story, motivate others, set clear objectives and delegate well.
  • Make decisions based on evidence and sound judgment, balancing speed, rigour and risk.
  • Manage people across a matrix, hold them to high standards and lead them through change.
  • Deliver high-quality work, get past obstacles, and stay focused on what matters most.
  • Lead change initiatives across a matrix organisation.
  • Keep your own energy and wellbeing up, and help build resilience in your team.
  • Keep learning, build your skills, and share knowledge inside and outside the company.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with stakeholders inside and outside the company.
  • Preferred, not required: expertise in medical imaging, computer vision, computational pathology, cellular imaging or spatial biology.
  • Preferred, not required: experience with clinical, late-stage applications and patient outcomes.
  • Preferred, not required: experience with software product management and delivery cycles.
  • Preferred, not required: experience with coding, software engineering and agentic architectures.
  • Preferred, not required: a proven record of influencing, communicating and negotiating with managers at all levels across functions and business units.
  • Preferred, not required: a record of leading teams drawn from several departments that you do not manage directly.
  • Preferred, not required: a proven understanding of process improvement and change management across the product delivery lifecycle.
  • Application: the closing date is Monday 9th November 2026 (COB). Describe how you meet the competencies in your cover letter or CV.
