Description

The company is a healthcare technology business with around 95,000 staff across more than 150 countries, making medical technologies used by over 72 million patients a year.

The Core Labs team in London builds connected products that bring software, embedded systems, video, computer vision, AI and medical devices together for the operating room.

The Touch Surgery ecosystem is already in more than 1,500 operating rooms worldwide, covering pre-operative learning, intra-operative tele-mentoring, surgical video and post-operative AI insights.

Touch Surgery Aide is the next-generation compute platform for the operating room. It is the on-premise and edge layer that connects digital applications to surgical video, devices, hospital networks and cloud services, and it handles deploying, operating, updating and supporting those capabilities at scale.

As Senior Principal Product Manager for Aide, you will set product strategy for this edge and digital platform. You will pick the problems that matter most for customers and the business, define platform capabilities that serve several products, and decide where investment goes.

The role is based in the London, UK office, with at least two days per week on site. Occasional overnight travel to customer sites in the US and Europe may be needed.

Responsibilities

  • Set a clear multi-year product vision for Aide as the intraoperative digital base of the Touch Surgery ecosystem.
  • Shape the platform strategy across edge compute, video, data movement, connectivity, application enablement, fleet operations and future extensibility, with real-time AI as one workload among several.
  • Learn in depth how surgeons, OR teams, hospital IT, service and implementation staff work, along with customer needs, technology shifts and the company portfolio priorities.
  • Run continuous discovery with engineering, design, clinical and field partners. Test the riskiest assumptions early, and reshape, defer or stop work when the evidence does not support it.
  • Decide which capabilities belong in shared platform services and which belong in individual applications, favouring reusable capabilities that cut duplicated effort.
  • Work with the Touch Surgery application, AI, cloud and data teams on end-to-end workflows, application lifecycle, platform dependencies, performance needs and release coordination.
  • Own product direction for connectivity, device-to-cloud workflows, provisioning, configuration, telemetry, software deployment, diagnostics, remote support and fleet lifecycle.
  • Make the trade-offs explicit across customer value, safety, cybersecurity, reliability, usability, feasibility, serviceability, cost, scalability, reuse, technical debt and obsolescence.
  • Turn strategy into outcomes, initiatives and product requirements that stay traceable, as a regulated environment requires, without prescribing technical design, which stays with engineering.
  • Work with the Product Owner and System Engineer, who turn strategy into backlogs, acceptance criteria and delivery priorities, and stay aligned with engineering day to day.
  • Work with Product Marketing, Commercial, Service and Implementation teams so the platform is clear to explain, ready to launch, easy to adopt and workable to support in real customer sites.

Requirements

  • Substantial product management experience taking work from discovery and strategy through launch, scale and lifecycle, with measurable results to show.
  • Proven success with digital platforms, ecosystems or technically complex products, such as edge or cloud systems, integrated hardware and software, connected devices or enterprise infrastructure.
  • Sound platform judgement: you can tell what belongs in a shared platform versus an application or integration, explain hard trade-offs, and show what you chose not to build.
  • Strong skills in customer discovery and analysis, using qualitative and quantitative evidence to make product decisions and test assumptions.
  • Enough technical fluency to discuss software, hardware, video, networking, cloud, APIs, data flows, identity and architecture constraints credibly, while respecting engineering's ownership of design.
  • Able to work with ambiguity and influence senior technical, clinical, commercial and business stakeholders without formal authority over them.
  • Preferred: experience in medical devices, healthcare software, digital health or another safety-critical or regulated field.
  • Preferred: experience with operating-room technology, surgical video, clinical workflows or hospital IT.
  • Preferred: experience in platform product management, developer or application enablement, or multi-product ecosystem strategy.
  • Preferred: experience with edge compute, embedded systems, real-time video processing or streaming, connected devices, computer vision or AI-enabled products.
  • Preferred: experience with device fleet management, remote operations, observability, provisioning, software updates and lifecycle management.
  • Preferred: experience with cloud platforms, APIs, interoperability, distributed systems, networking, identity and device-to-cloud data flows.
  • Preferred: experience with cybersecurity, privacy, reliability, quality systems, design controls or safety-by-design.
