The team builds native iOS authentication and identity features for the company's mobile banking app, serving millions of customers.
The role is a senior iOS engineering position in Identity Services, designing, developing and improving software that supports business, platform and technology needs for customers and colleagues.
You will work with current iOS technologies such as biometric authentication, secure enclaves and modern Swift frameworks, using AI-assisted development to speed up delivery, alongside backend engineers, security specialists and product designers.
The role carries Vice President level expectations, including setting strategy, managing risk and controls, and advising senior stakeholders, as described below.
Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality software using current programming languages, frameworks and tools, keeping code scalable, maintainable and performant.
Work with product managers, designers and engineers to define requirements, choose solution approaches and ensure smooth integration with business goals.
Review peers' code, share knowledge and encourage a strong code quality culture.
Track technology trends and contribute to internal technology communities to build technical excellence.
Apply secure coding practices to reduce vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
Write effective unit tests that ensure sound design, readable code and reliable behaviour.
Contribute to or set strategy, define requirements, recommend changes, plan resources and budgets, maintain policies and processes, drive continuous improvement and escalate policy or procedure breaches.
If you manage a team, define roles and responsibilities, plan the department's future needs, coach staff on performance and contribute to pay decisions, while balancing short and long term goals within budget and schedule.
If the role carries leadership duties, model the four LEAD behaviours: listen and be authentic, energise and inspire, align across the enterprise, and develop others.
If you are an individual contributor, act as the subject matter expert in your discipline, guide technical direction, lead multi-year collaborative work, bring in other specialisms where needed, and train and coach less experienced specialists on matters affecting long term profit, organisational risk and strategy.
Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership and senior management, on the impact and alignment of work across and within functions.
Assess and mitigate risks in support of the control and governance agenda, and take responsibility for managing risk and strengthening controls in your team's work.
Understand how the organisation's functions fit together and work with business-aligned support areas to stay current on business activity and strategy.
Use detailed analysis and interpretive thinking to frame problems, compare complex options and develop new solutions, drawing on in-depth research.
Build and maintain trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, using influence and negotiation to reach key business objectives.
Demonstrate the company's values of Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence and Stewardship, and its mindset of Empower, Challenge and Drive.
Requirements
Deep iOS development experience with Swift, the iOS SDK, UIKit and SwiftUI, and a record of shipping high-quality native iOS apps.
Solid grasp of Identity and Access Management concepts, authentication protocols such as OAuth2 and OIDC, and integration with IAM backend services through Android SDKs and REST APIs.
Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools to speed up iOS work, raise code quality, and improve debugging and testing.
Experience building authentication and identity features on iOS, including biometric authentication (Face ID, Touch ID), keychain services, secure storage and certificate pinning.
Experience with modern iOS practices such as MVVM or Clean Architecture, dependency injection, automated testing (XCTest, UI Testing) and CI/CD pipelines for mobile.
Expertise in secure mobile development, including code obfuscation, runtime protection, jailbreak detection and mobile application security testing.
Highly desirable: experience integrating the Ping Identity SDK on iOS to connect with IAM platforms, including building custom authentication journeys.
Highly desirable: experience with mobile DevOps, app store release processes, and feature flags or gradual rollouts.
Highly desirable: knowledge of FIDO2/WebAuthn, passkeys and passwordless authentication on iOS.
Highly desirable: background in performance optimisation, memory management and debugging complex iOS apps.
Highly desirable: familiarity with financial services mobile apps and the regulations and security standards that govern banking apps.
You may be assessed on risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology, and job-specific technical skills.
