Description

As Senior Group Manager of Experience Design on Datadog's Web Experience team, you will lead and grow the Experience Design group while remaining hands-on with the web experiences that matter most to our customers and business. You will manage two designers today and help shape how the team scales over time. You will set a high bar for craft and execution across research, journey mapping, interaction design, prototyping, implementation, and post-launch quality. You will also evolve AI-assisted and code-connected design workflows, partnering closely with Product Marketing, Growth, Web Engineering, and Web Content Engineering to move from ideas to shipped experiences.

At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow the Experience Design group, managing two designers today and helping shape the team as its scope evolves
  • Hire, coach, develop, and set clear expectations for designers while maintaining a high bar for design craft
  • Design priority web experiences from journey mapping and research through interaction design, prototyping, and shipped pages
  • Prototype with AI and working code, use Figma MCP and Code Connect to keep design and implementation aligned, and work directly in the CMS when appropriate
  • Own and evolve the team’s design process across discovery, critique, specification, handoff, and post-launch quality assurance
  • Partner with Product Marketing, Growth, Web Engineering, and Web Content Engineering to shape priorities and deliver web experiences that support business goals

Requirements

  • Experienced across UX/UI, journey mapping, and web design, with a portfolio of shipped, high-traffic marketing or product marketing experiences and particular depth in web and product experience
  • A people leader who remains actively involved in design work and is comfortable moving between team leadership and hands-on execution
  • Comfortable using code as part of the design process, including prototyping, reading implementation details, working with Figma MCP and Code Connect, and building within a modern CMS
  • Experienced using AI to prototype, explore design directions, and reduce repetitive work, with a thoughtful perspective on where AI adds value to the design process
  • Experienced hiring, coaching, and developing designers, including giving actionable feedback and supporting specialists with deep expertise in their disciplines
  • Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.
  • Bonus Points:
  • Grow an Experience Design function while continuing to work directly on complex, high-impact design challenges
  • Shape how the team approaches design craft, critique, research, prototyping, implementation, and quality
  • Expand your experience with AI-assisted prototyping, code-connected design workflows, and CMS-based delivery
  • Collaborate closely with marketing, growth, engineering, and content partners on priorities across Datadog’s web experience
  • Help define how the Experience Design team scales as its scope and responsibilities evolve
