Description

The company builds autonomous drones, and its team combines AI, hardware and software product development, and operations to serve users from utility inspectors to first responders and soldiers.

Autonomous drones run in uncontrolled environments, where onboard autonomy, hardware, and the mobile and browser apps that control them must work together on every flight. Testing is central to shipping a reliable product.

This role sits in the Product Integrity organization, which owns product quality from NPI through end of life across hardware and software. Your work will affect how fast and how reliably new capabilities reach customers.

You will lead the Flight Test Automation Pod and expand how the team validates autonomous flight. You will build and own automated test systems that run from CI through simulation, hardware-in-the-loop, and real-world flight, bring AI-supported workflows into writing, running, and analyzing tests, and set how test coverage is measured.

Responsibilities

  • Set technical direction and the roadmap for the Flight Test Automation Pod, and mentor the engineers who contribute to automation.
  • Own automated test workflows across mobile, browser, and integrated hardware and software systems, from simulation to real-world flight.
  • Build and own CI test pipelines that validate every build automatically and return fast, actionable feedback to developers.
  • Design an extensible test framework that multiple teams can use, so engineers can add and maintain their own tests easily.
  • Apply AI-assisted and agentic workflows to test generation, failure triage, and flight log analysis to detect issues sooner.
  • Define test coverage metrics tied to requirements and risk, and use them to guide test strategy, cut manual effort, and direct flight time to where it matters most.
  • Work with software, flight test, and reliability engineering leads to plan and prioritize testing.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years in software testing, automation, or test infrastructure, ideally in a cross-functional, complex hardware and software environment.
  • A record of setting technical direction and getting adoption across teams.
  • Strong Python skills, including building maintainable, well-structured test frameworks and infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD systems and putting automated tests into build pipelines.
  • Experience applying AI and agentic workflows to software development or testing.
  • Proven ability to define and measure test coverage across complex systems.
  • Proficiency with mobile and browser automation tools such as Appium, Playwright, or Selenium.
  • You must obtain FAA Part 107 certification within your first 60 days of employment.
  • Nice to have: background in aviation, drones, embedded systems, robotics simulation, or hardware-in-the-loop testing.

Conditions

Base salary range is $150,000 to $200,000 per year.
