Description

The team is shaping the technical and functional architecture of a strategic European programme that builds secure, interoperable and future-proof data spaces.

The company provides end-to-end corporate technology and software solutions, employs more than 51,000 people across 30 countries, and counts major European firms among its clients.

As architecture lead across the platform and its wider ecosystem, you will keep the functional and technical sides aligned, link the platform to other European platforms and initiatives, and turn regulatory, interoperability and security demands into solutions that can scale.

You will work in a complex, multi-stakeholder setting, connecting policy, architecture, security and technology while collaborating with European institutions, programme governance teams, technical specialists and delivery partners.

Responsibilities

  • Define, maintain and develop the functional and technical architecture of the platform, covering component designs, data flows, interfaces and deployment models.
  • Keep the architecture consistent across the programme and help shape its principles, standards, design decisions and lifecycle governance.
  • Map architecture choices to relevant European interoperability standards and frameworks such as CIM, SAREF, AS4, EIRA and eGovERA.
  • Work with the programme support office and other stakeholders on quality assurance and lifecycle governance, applying programme guidelines and development standards.
  • Help integrate platform services with DOME and European initiatives such as GAIA-X, EuroHPC and AI Factories.
  • Build Security-by-Design and Privacy-by-Design into architecture decisions and help align designs with GDPR, eIDAS, the Data Act and relevant cybersecurity requirements.
  • Advocate open standards, modular building blocks, federated architecture, connectors and trust frameworks that allow interoperability across distributed ecosystems.
  • Guide technical and delivery teams, review solution designs and help resolve difficult architecture and integration problems.
  • Run architecture discussions and workshops with EU stakeholders, contractors, technical experts and governance bodies.
  • Turn complex decisions into clear recommendations, documentation and roadmaps for technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture or a similar technical leadership role, ideally in complex, distributed or multi-stakeholder settings.
  • A solid grasp of federated architectures, data spaces, cloud-to-edge environments and interoperability principles.
  • Experience with architecture frameworks and modelling approaches such as TOGAF, ArchiMate and BPMN.
  • Experience designing solutions that meet security, privacy and regulatory requirements, including familiarity with GDPR, NIS2 and ISO 27001.
  • Understanding of multi-cloud environments such as Microsoft Azure, AWS or Google Cloud, plus container orchestration and API-driven integration.
  • Experience with Agile delivery models, DevSecOps, and CI/CD practices and governance.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to explain architecture decisions to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Professional working proficiency in English.
  • Knowledge of European interoperability frameworks, open standards or open-source ecosystems is a strong advantage.
  • Knowledge of French or Dutch is an advantage.
  • Relevant certifications are an advantage, for example TOGAF, ArchiMate, Microsoft Azure, AWS or Google Cloud architecture certifications, ISO 27001 or CISSP.
  • Equivalent knowledge shown through relevant professional experience is equally valued.

Conditions

Indefinite contract.

Depending on the assignment and access requirements, eligibility to obtain the required EU or Belgian security clearance may be necessary.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary.
  • Company car or mobility budget.
  • Comprehensive insurance covering hospitalisation, outpatient care and group insurance.
  • 32 days paid time off, made up of 20 days plus 12 bonus days.
  • Laptop, phone and mobile subscription.
  • Continuous learning opportunities through the company's academy to support career development.
