Senior Engineer, SSD Qualification

Description

The lab develops the host interface firmware layer that sits between system software and flash management firmware, which supports the company's flash technology used in enterprise storage.

The firmware serves customers building high-performance enterprise systems, including hyperscale data centers, big data processing, and software-defined virtualized storage arrays.

Responsibilities

• Run enterprise SSD qualification work on customer systems.
• Keep your team lead updated on qualification progress, understand their processes and test plans, and help manage customer expectations.
• Work with internal and customer test engineers, some local and some remote, to carry out qualification plans on schedule.
• Sort through test failures, perform first-level failure analysis, and design experiments to find root causes and confirm fixes with development teams.
• Give functional test teams feedback from customer qualifications so they can widen test coverage.
• Help triage customer field issues and support fast resolution.
• Find areas to automate and help the automation team extend the existing framework.

Requirements

• A BS in Computer Science or a related technical field, with 5+ years of system-level testing or development on enterprise servers and enterprise storage systems.
• An MS with 3+ years of experience is preferred.
• Experience with at least one storage protocol, such as NVMe/PCIe, SAS, SATA, or Fibre Channel.
• Familiarity with a protocol analyzer such as LeCroy, SerialTek, or Xgig, or experience with system or device performance analysis.
• Skill with server operating systems and system debugging tools, including system logs.
• Knowledge of enterprise storage and server system technologies.
• Expertise with storage test tools, including performance benchmarks, IO stress tools, protocol certification tools, and test execution and bug tracking systems.
• Scripting experience in Perl, Shell, or Python.

Conditions

Daily onsite presence at the San Jose headquarters, in line with the flexible work policy.

Teams are spread across local and remote locations.

• Base pay range of $138,000 - $206,000 USD for all roles at this level across all US locations and functions. Pay within the range depends on work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
