Senior Engineer - Python & Containerization (VP)

Description

The Chief Information Security Office keeps all of the company's technical assets secure. The company is a global bank with about 200 million customer accounts in more than 160 countries and jurisdictions, offering consumer banking, corporate and investment banking, brokerage, transaction services and wealth management.

The Chief Information Security Office is building several new programmes on cloud and container technology to raise cyber security standards across the firm and give business lines and clients confidence.

You would join the Container Security team, which secures and improves the company's container technologies. The work covers automated security tooling that hardens internal platforms and makes daily development easier. You would also strengthen the container software delivery lifecycle for internal developers, focusing on image scanning, and work with central platform teams, DevOps teams and the developer community.

This is a full-time role in the Technology job family, under Systems & Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Analyse, design, build and improve container security tools and platforms used by the CISO office and by developers.
• Own solutions that must run reliably and perform well at scale across the organisation.
• Work with engineering, operations and partner teams across the wider company, spanning several time zones.

Requirements

• Be a self-driven, motivated person with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Hold a bachelor's degree or have equivalent work experience.
• Communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
• Have substantial relevant industry experience.
• Have hands-on experience integrating container image scanning platforms and tools.
• Have taken enterprise software through its full life cycle, from design and build to running it, working across functional teams.
• Have helped shape the architecture and design of new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability and scaling.
• Have experience with Kubernetes and container technologies such as Docker, Podman and OpenShift.
• Knowing Kubernetes security fundamentals and DevSecOps is a bonus.
• Be an expert in a major programming language such as Python or Java, along with its tooling, such as Git, Maven, IDEs, Jenkins and Bitbucket.
• Be an expert in DevOps, CI/CD and agile methods.

Conditions

Hybrid working: up to 2 days a week working from home, in a business casual office.

Base salary is reviewed annually.
