Senior DevOps Engineer

Description

The company is hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer to support a client in Rosslyn, VA. The role covers multi-cloud work across Azure, AWS and Google Cloud, in government cloud and FedRAMP High environments.

The client needs someone who can design, build and run secure, compliant and scalable cloud infrastructure, with hands-on skill in Azure DevOps and Bicep. You will work with enclave restrictions, private endpoints and secure integration across several platforms.

This is a full-time, regular position that requires a Secret clearance to start.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy and run secure solutions in Azure Government, AWS GovCloud and Google Cloud for Government.
• Write and maintain Infrastructure as Code in Bicep, and in Terraform or Ansible where they fit.
• Build and tune CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps for both application and infrastructure releases.
• Set up and maintain monitoring, logging and alerting that meet government compliance and security standards.
• Work with development, operations and security staff to put DevSecOps practices in place that satisfy FedRAMP, FISMA and NIST requirements.
• Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis and performance tuning in secure cloud environments.
• Take part in change management and CAB reviews in tightly regulated settings.
• Mentor junior engineers and work across teams.

Requirements

• Hold at least a Secret clearance, or an interim clearance to start.
• Hold a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, or have equivalent experience.
• Have 7+ years in DevOps, cloud engineering or site reliability engineering.
• Have hands-on experience with Azure Government, AWS GovCloud and Google Government Cloud.
• Be proficient in Azure DevOps, including pipelines, repos, boards and artifacts.
• Have strong Bicep skills for automating Azure resources.
• Be skilled in scripting with PowerShell, Python or Bash.
• Understand secure enclave networking, including private endpoints, DNS, firewalls, VPNs and VNET or Transit Gateway design.
• Have a strong grasp of FedRAMP, FISMA and NIST 800-53 controls.
• Desired: Certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS DevOps Engineer Professional or Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer.
• Desired: Experience with Terraform, Ansible and Helm.
• Desired: Familiarity with other CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD and ArgoCD.
• Desired: Knowledge of secrets management with Azure Key Vault, AWS KMS or HashiCorp Vault.
• Desired: Experience with cloud cost governance, tagging standards and chargeback models.
• Desired: Prior work on ATO (Authority to Operate) processes and compliance documentation.
• The team expects working knowledge of Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Bicep, Terraform, Ansible, Helm, Azure Monitor, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK, CloudWatch, Stackdriver, Git, GitOps, branching strategies, ScanCentral, SonarQube, Snyk, Aqua, Prisma, DNS, CDN, firewalls, Application Gateways, API gateways, CosmosDB, DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, backup and recovery strategies.
• Future roadmap, not required today: Docker and Kubernetes (AKS, EKS, GKE).
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Clear communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work well in a high-compliance, security-sensitive environment.
• Experience mentoring engineers and helping build a collaborative team.

Conditions

Work on site four days a week, with one day remote.

Travel is local and up to 10%.

Salary depends on factors such as location, federal contract labor categories and wage rates, relevant experience, skills, education and certifications.

The proposed salary range is $113,200 - $237,800.
