This is a hands-on, delivery-focused senior role designing and building agentic conversational AI for the banking domain. The main focus is Connect AI Agents, agentic prompts, and intent and slot tuning on Amazon Connect and Amazon Lex.

The work centres on experiments, data analysis, and NLU asset tuning to keep improving conversation quality and intent and slot performance in existing IVR solutions.

The role suits someone who can get up to speed fast, add value right away, and work with little supervision inside an established delivery model. Success depends on analytical rigour, working closely with the onshore lead, and turning technical findings into clear recommendations for leadership and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Help deliver agentic conversational AI capabilities for IVR solutions built on Amazon Connect and Amazon Lex, from start to finish.
• Design and run experiments on intent recognition, slot filling, utterance handling, and overall conversation quality, then interpret the results.
• Analyse interaction data, model outputs, and test results by hand to find problems and areas to improve.
• Adjust intent descriptions, training data, prompts, and other NLU assets to lift performance.
• Work with the onshore lead to shape the slot-filling approach, conversation behaviour, and delivery priorities.
• Assess and help implement LLM and GenAI tools for NLU and intent understanding.
• Write clear summaries of findings, recommendations, and results for leadership and partner teams.
• Keep delivery on schedule by spotting risks, fixing issues, and holding a high standard of analysis.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in data science, machine learning, NLP, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of building GenAI solutions.
• Solid hands-on experience with analytics, experimentation, model evaluation, and performance tuning.
• Experience with conversational AI, NLU, chatbot, virtual assistant, or IVR projects.
• Working familiarity with Amazon Connect and Amazon Lex, or closely comparable conversational AI platforms.
• Some exposure to LLM, GenAI, or modern NLP methods for intent understanding and conversational AI.
• Ability to get up to speed quickly and deliver value in a delivery-driven setting.
• Strong written and spoken communication, including presenting work clearly to leadership and partner teams.
• Preferred: experience tuning intent classification, slot filling, fallback handling, or dialogue behaviour in production.
• Preferred: strong Python and data analysis skills for experiments, reporting, and model evaluation.
• Preferred: experience supporting prompt-based evaluation or LLM-assisted NLU workflows.
• Preferred: experience on cross-functional delivery teams working in onshore and offshore models.

Conditions

The pay range is an estimate of $110,000 to $140,000, based on skills, experience, training, licences and certifications, and business needs. It has not been adjusted for geographic differences in the location where the role is filled. Hires at or near the top of the range are uncommon, and pay depends on the details of each case. You may also be eligible for a discretionary bonus for the current performance period.
