Senior COBOL Developer (French Speaker)

Description

A senior COBOL developer who speaks French is needed for an international project that builds and evolves critical mainframe applications.

The role suits an experienced, self-directed person who communicates well with both technical and business stakeholders.

The company is a European digital services firm with about 28,000 consultants, active in 19 countries, with 2.5 billion euros in sales in 2023.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain and extend COBOL applications running on the mainframe.
• Study functional and technical needs and recommend suitable solutions.
• Create, implement and connect APIs between systems.
• Work on DB2 and MySQL databases with attention to speed, stability and reliability.
• Work with cross-functional colleagues in line with Agile practice.
• Check code quality, diagnose faults and provide continuing support for applications.
• Take part in Agile ceremonies and help drive ongoing improvement efforts.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience developing COBOL on mainframe platforms.
• Solid understanding of DB2, TSO, z/OS and mainframe architecture.
• Hands-on experience integrating APIs and making systems interoperate.
• Working knowledge of MySQL, Eclipse and JIRA.
• Understanding of Agile and Scrum practice.
• Able to work alone and take initiative in complex settings.
• Sharp analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Clear, effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Quality-focused, results-driven approach.
• French and English at B2 level or above, mandatory.
• Adapts fast to complex environments where business-critical systems are at stake.

Conditions

Hybrid work: 50% on site and 50% remote.
