Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design CI/CD pipeline architecture and platform tooling, covering Kubernetes, GitOps workflows, and internal developer platform components such as Crossplane, Backstage, or Argo CD.
• Write infrastructure-as-code with Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation across platform components, and set the standards for it.
• Administer and harden Linux and RHEL systems that make up the platform infrastructure.
• Build NIST 800-53, DISA STIG, and FedRAMP compliance into deployment pipelines by default.
• Implement identity and access management, encryption, and network security.
• Troubleshoot problems across the full stack and find their root causes.
• Ship pipelines and platform tooling that lower friction for the engineering teams that use them.
• Keep infrastructure and platform components as reusable, version-controlled code.
• Put security controls and compliance into pipelines from day one, not as a cleanup step later.
• Keep platform operations reliable and well documented, with runbooks, architecture decisions, and procedures.
• Produce measurable gains in deployment frequency and shorter deployment times through automation.

Requirements

• 5 years of DevOps or cloud platform engineering, including production CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation), and containers and orchestration (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes).
• 3 years of RHEL or CentOS systems administration.
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II or higher (Security+, CISSP, CASP, or equivalent), or DoD 8140 equivalent.
• Active TS clearance is required.
• SCI clearance is preferred.
• Bonus: bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or 4+ years of relevant job or military experience in place of a degree.
• Bonus: AWS certification (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or Security Specialty).
• Bonus: Kubernetes certification (CKA or CKAD).
• Bonus: hands-on experience with newer platform tools (Crossplane, Backstage, Argo CD) beyond the core baseline.
• Bonus: Agile experience with Scrum or Kanban.
• Bonus: familiarity with national security systems and air-gapped environments.

Conditions

Pay ranges are shared as local law requires for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, and the District of Columbia.

The base pay range in those locations is $120,400 - $234,700 USD.

Pay varies by office location, role, skill set, and experience level.
