The role is a senior technology leadership position inside Medical Affairs and Health Impact (MHI) and related business areas, acting as the main MHI Business Technology Solutions (BTS) point of contact for AI work.
You will turn business problems into technology options, solution shapes and feasibility views, and recommend approaches that can scale and reuse enterprise platforms, standards and services.
You will own the integrated MHI AI technology roadmap as a planning document, linking current and planned AI initiatives to longer-term MHI capabilities and to broader the company and IR AI strategies, working with BRMs, architects, platform teams, engineering teams and IR development organizations.
Responsibilities
Meet MHI business stakeholders, BRMs, BTS colleagues and technical teams to learn business drivers, system needs and AI opportunities.
Spot process improvement and reuse opportunities, and flag key risks across technology, data, architecture, security, privacy, compliance and delivery.
Maintain the integrated MHI AI roadmap: show planned and active initiatives together, find dependencies, overlaps, gaps and reuse chances, note architecture and sequencing effects, tie initiatives to long-term MHI capabilities, and align with BRM priorities and broader the company and IR AI strategies and platforms.
Turn business problems into technology options, requirements, feasibility views and roadmap recommendations, and assess build, buy, reuse and enterprise platform options with architects, platform owners, security, privacy, compliance and delivery teams.
Make sure proposals fit the company enterprise architecture, approved AI platforms and patterns, engineering and development standards, data and integration standards, security and privacy rules, responsible AI expectations, compliance rules and reusable services. Push for enterprise adoption and away from isolated or duplicate solutions.
Act as the primary MHI BTS contact for internal IR development teams, enterprise architects, platform and engineering teams and technical SMEs on AI work. Bring technical teams in early during opportunity and solution shaping, surface technical dependencies, support alignment, and escalate significant architecture, technology, data, responsible AI, security, privacy, compliance or delivery risks through the right governance and delivery channels.
Advise MHI stakeholders and BTS colleagues on where AI fits, which options exist, and how proposals should match the company platforms, standards and enterprise services. Track emerging AI technologies and turn them into practical MHI opportunities where they apply.
Own the quality and accuracy of technology analysis, recommendations, roadmap inputs, feasibility assessments and risk visibility. Help set technology objectives with architects, platform owners and delivery teams, recommend solution direction, inform technical and architecture decisions, challenge proposals when needed, and answer for the information behind business cases, prioritization and delivery decisions.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree with 8 years of experience, or Master's degree with 7 years of experience, or PhD with 3 years of experience.
Relevant years of experience in business systems engineering, technology capability leadership, enterprise platforms, solution delivery or related IT roles.
Experience using wide latitude and independent judgment in solution shaping, technical problem solving, feasibility assessment, risk identification and recommending scalable technology approaches.
You get work done through consultation, alignment and agreement with BRMs, business stakeholders, architects, platform owners, delivery teams and senior technical stakeholders, not through formal sign-off by a manager.
Proven ability to turn complex business problems into technology capabilities, solution options, architecture considerations, functional requirements and delivery approaches, while keeping the line between BRM business relationship ownership and BSE technology capability leadership.
Working knowledge of generative AI, large language models, AI agents and agentic workflows, machine learning concepts, retrieval-augmented generation, prompt engineering, model evaluation, AI-enabled workflow automation, data readiness for AI, APIs, enterprise integration, responsible AI, AI security, privacy, compliance, and enterprise AI platforms and reusable AI services. This is enough to judge solution fit, work with technical experts and understand implementation impact.
Proven ability to work well with enterprise architects, development, platform, engineering, security, privacy, data and compliance specialists to assess solution options, challenge recommendations when needed, understand architecture impact and translate between business and technical audiences.
Ability to build and maintain a technology roadmap, find dependencies and capability gaps, promote enterprise reuse and scalability, and link active initiatives to longer-term business technology capabilities. Deep model development, AI engineering, production software engineering or data science expertise is not required.
