Description

The company is one of the largest online car marketplaces in Europe, combining technology, media and automotive expertise to change how people buy, sell, advertise and lease cars.

It started as a reviews site and grew over 50% last year, with nearly £3bn of cars bought on site and £1.8bn of cars listed for sale through its selling service.

In 2024 the company acquired a magazine publisher, which doubled its audience. Its YouTube channels have almost 10m subscribers and over 1.1 billion annual views, print sales reach 1.2 million copies, and web content reaches over 350 million people a year.

Brand Creative is the central design studio for every brand in the group. The team values storytelling, craft and collaboration, and works fast and often across the business.

The studio covers everything from large campaigns and social-first paid media to events, brand identity, commercial projects and internal culture work. As the company scales, the role offers variety, ownership and room to explore creatively.

This is the company's only permanent designer role in the team. You will lift how the brands look, from first concepts through to final delivery on many channels.

Responsibilities

  • Shape how the brands communicate visually, balancing conceptual thinking with hands-on craft so they stay consistent, recognisable and bold.
  • Take ownership of design from early concepts to final delivery across brand, campaign, social, print, CRM, paid media and editorial work.
  • Develop clear, insight-led creative ideas and campaign directions with the Head of Creative, the Creative Strategist and the copywriters.
  • Apply brand guidelines with judgement: follow them, adapt them or suggest improvements when needed.
  • Build scalable layouts, toolkits, templates and visual systems that help the whole group work more efficiently.
  • Concept and produce short social video for paid media that suits each platform and its audience, mainly YouTube and Meta.
  • Work with product designers so brand and campaign creative works well in digital journeys.
  • Present your work clearly, explaining your reasoning, the constraints you faced and the effect of your decisions.
  • Give freelancers honest, constructive feedback and make sure their work matches brand standards.
  • Onboard and coach freelancers on the guidelines and internal systems, and own both.
  • Add structure and consistency through well-organised files, templates and better processes.
  • Contribute to the Creative Community by sharing ideas, working across teams and strengthening creative culture.
  • Explore AI tools in the creative workflow without lowering the quality of the work.

Requirements

  • A strong portfolio showing both concept development and crafted design across digital and print, ideally including a 360 campaign that runs from above-the-line work to tactical performance assets.
  • Working knowledge of Figma, Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop, with close attention to detail.
  • Experience building coherent campaigns, from early concepts through to multi-channel rollouts.
  • Experience adapting design to suit each channel, especially social and performance formats.
  • Comfortable collaborating creatively with copywriters and stakeholders, and able to give clear, thoughtful feedback.
  • Self-sufficient and organised, able to manage several projects at once without close supervision.
  • A good grasp of visual trends, social formats and how motion supports a brand.
  • A natural collaborator who enjoys working across disciplines and connecting with other creatives.
  • Bonus: motion design skills in After Effects and Premiere Pro.
  • Bonus: interest in or experience of shooting UGC-style short-form content.
  • Bonus: illustration or iconography skills.
  • Bonus: interest in creative operations, workflow improvements or building toolkits, including AI solutions.

Conditions

Interview process: an introductory call with the Talent team, then a 30-minute video call with the Head of Creative.

Next, a concepting or design task (about 1 hour) presented to two members of the Brand Creative team.

The final step is a 30-minute interview with the Brand and Comms Director.

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and experiences, and decisions are based on experience, skills and potential, with all applicants treated fairly and equally.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package and share options.
  • 28 days' holiday plus bank holidays, rising to 35 days with service.
  • Pension through Royal London, with the company contributing up to 5%.
  • Bupa private healthcare.
  • Life assurance of 4 times salary.
  • Monthly wellbeing coaching with Spill.
  • Inclusive parental leave policies.
  • Bubble childcare support and discounted nanny fees.
  • Work-from-abroad scheme.
  • Generous learning and development budget.
  • £500 / €550 home office budget.
