SAP HCM Custom Object Developer

Description

The company is a technology firm working with the US federal government. Its more than 13,000 staff serve clients in defense, national security, public safety, civilian and military health.

This role supports the technical design, build, testing and deployment of custom solutions in SAP HCM and Payroll, mainly through hands-on ABAP work. You will turn approved functional designs into scalable, high-quality technical components and work alongside SAP HCM functional consultants, integration developers and other technical staff.

Responsibilities

• Study functional specifications and write detailed technical designs from them
• Build and improve SAP HCM custom objects in ABAP
• Create custom reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms, workflows and other technical components
• Work with functional teams to clarify requirements and confirm technical designs match approved specifications
• Run technical and unit tests, validate code and prepare solutions for functional testing
• Find and fix defects from functional, integration, regression and end-to-end testing, including retests and closure
• Maintain technical design documents, development specifications and test records
• Help with transports, deployment and production readiness
• Coordinate with integration engineers when your objects link to SAP or outside systems
• Use SAP CPI / SAP Integration Suite where suitable, mainly for integration-focused custom solutions

Requirements

• At least 4 years of SAP ABAP development experience
• Hands-on experience building custom solutions in SAP HCM and/or Payroll
• A track record of building and supporting reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms, workflows and similar components
• Ability to read functional specifications and turn them into sound technical designs
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of SAP HCM data structures, technical architecture and integration points
• Experience supporting development through every testing and deployment phase
• Clear communication and teamwork with functional and integration staff
• A plus: SAP CPI / Integration Suite experience, particularly API-based integrations and cloud integration flows
• Must be a US citizen
• Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance

Conditions

As required by local law, base pay in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Vermont, Virginia, Washington and the District of Columbia is $82,700 - $209,300 USD.

Final pay depends on factors such as office location, role, skill set and experience.
