The team is the company Research, which is hiring a new graduate Research Scientist focused on machine learning systems. The work covers hardware, software, and infrastructure for ML systems of every scale, including the training, fine-tuning, and serving of models on personal devices and in warehouse-scale data centers.

The role calls for systems researchers who have a record of strong research and a wide view of the hardware, software, and infrastructure stack, along with deep knowledge of at least one layer, such as AI/ML systems, operating systems, distributed systems, data management, cloud computing, or computer architecture.

Responsibilities

• Study the efficiency, scaling, and resilience problems that appear in ML systems, algorithms, and applications.
• Design inventive solutions across hardware, software, and infrastructure for ML systems of all sizes.
• Help co-design the next generation of AI/ML algorithms and the systems that run them.
• Work with research and product teams across software, hardware, AI, and networking.
• Publish original research and present your work at conferences and other events.

Requirements

• Hold a recent Ph.D. in CS, CE, or EE, with a strong background in operating systems, distributed systems, inference and training systems, data management, networking, cloud computing, or computer architecture, or equivalent experience.
• Show clear expertise in one specific area and the ability to become the go-to expert for a team with varied backgrounds.
• Have experience with experimental research and development.
• Know C, C++, Python, and/or scripting languages.
• Have used AI tools for analysis, design, and code development.
• Advantage: a track record of publications, patents, and research collaborations.

Conditions

Base salary will be set by your location, experience, and other objective job-related factors. The expected base salary range is $168,000 to $264,500 USD.
