Research Engineer

Description

The company is an audio data research firm that applies an R&D approach to building datasets, held to the same standard AI labs use for their models.

The company is hiring research, engineering, product and operations people.

The Research team turns raw audio into high-signal data for AI labs and enterprises and owns the full ML lifecycle, from new speech processing algorithms to models that process terabytes of audio each day.

Responsibilities

• Create algorithms and metrics using signal processing and modern ML models to extract insights from thousands of hours of audio.
• Build scalable pipelines that analyze, filter, deduplicate and curate large speech and audio datasets.
• Work with cross-functional teams to ship production inference algorithms, pipelines and APIs that show customers insights about their data.
• Partner with the Operations team to gather training and evaluation datasets that improve model quality.
• Design systems that make inference and evaluation resilient and durable.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional engineering or applied research experience in areas such as data systems, algorithms, applied ML, information retrieval, or speech and audio.
• Strong Python skills, with a record of writing maintainable, production-quality code.
• You take ML pipelines end to end, from proof of concept to production deployment.
• You can turn research papers and ideas into production-ready code.
• You have deployed ML systems for production inference on cloud platforms.
• You can judge model quality in terms of user experience and business value.
• Experience level is open; new graduates are welcome.
• Bonus: experience with speech, audio, or digital signal processing.
• Bonus: experience with data curation, search and retrieval, embeddings, clustering, deduplication, or sampling.
• Bonus: experience building model inference systems or putting pretrained models into production workflows.
• Bonus: publications at top conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR or CVPR.
• Bonus: experience releasing, maintaining or contributing to open-source software.
• Bonus: a PhD or Master's in computer science or a related field.
