Description

The department builds high-fidelity engineering and training simulators for several aircraft types and supports them across the full development lifecycle.

The role is a software engineer position for the HMI stations used with these simulators. The stations handle overall simulation control and monitoring, and they are also used to instruct and debrief training sessions.

You will define and build the frontend software and work with a team of software engineers so the whole simulator product is delivered successfully.

Location: Manching, a market town about an hour's drive north of Munich. It offers a broad range of leisure and cultural activities, countryside living, and the big cities nearby are within easy reach.

Responsibilities

  • Talk with stakeholders and customers to collect and clarify requirements.
  • Define and design the software base for simulation control stations, instructor operating stations and flight training debriefing stations.
  • Build intuitive, easy-to-use interfaces with a custom GUI framework based on Qt/QML.
  • Define and maintain the technical architecture of the software, covering codebase design and organisation, interfaces to other systems, and the overall structure.
  • Design, build, test and maintain software as clean, efficient, maintainable code that follows good development practice. Investigate and debug software issues and fix bugs.
  • Take part in planning, stand-up, review and retrospective meetings in line with the development methodology.
  • Carry out code reviews and check that code meets the agreed coding standards.
  • Make sure the system design and architecture is scalable, maintainable and able to integrate with other systems.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
  • Software development experience, focused on frontend or UI applications.
  • Strong proficiency in C++ and the Qt/QML stack.
  • Good communication skills for working effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with modern DevOps pipelines, containerisation and agile methods.
  • A proactive, pragmatic approach and a genuine interest in simulation.
  • Awareness of potential compliance risks, and a commitment to act with integrity, which underpins the company's success, reputation and sustainable growth.
